I have a little problem to make videos ( .avi or others, not in .giz or something like that with gens+) : I tried with gens movie, but they are too much large, so I used Fraps; it works very well, but it doesn't compress videos... so i used virtualdub to do it and my video are less than 1 Mo. Ok that's good, but Fraps isn't free, and in the trial version, we can make only video of 30 second max. Then if somebody knew another program to make videos that could be helpfull. Or perhaps made a topic with instructions about video's captures.

I don't think there is this problem for all roms, but i notice it in sonic CD's special stage. I was trying to make good times by watching sprintgod's videos, but even by taking the same course, I wasn't able to make the same time, because he uses the european version ( i'm almost sure ) and it's slower.

I've got two questions about sonic CD and sonic 3D:
scd: is it allowed to play with the european version since time pass more slowly with this version?
s3D: can we give rings to knuckles and tails to win more points in the score of the level, but without win any points with the special stage of course !? Like this, we can collect the rings again and win even more points, but I don't know if it's authorized.

Well, i think you’re right this time. I didn’t used saves states and emulator slowdown modes, but i used the code START + B or C when you have unlocked the select mode. At first I thought it was allowed to do this because the select mode is authorized , but I have just read again the rules and when I saw that - The only button that may be pressed when the game is paused is Start.-, I have understood that I must remake all the specials stages, because I am not sure at all to be able to do the sames scores without using these codes, except the first 3 stages…I’m sorry about this mistake I have done, now I’ll be more careful by reading the rules. I have put my old records, that I’ll try to increase normally later.
Then, about scores, I had them by collecting all the rings in the levels, and so by winning 500000 pts of perfect bonus, plus enemies or boss. But it’s impossible to get them all in some levels like metropolis, which don’t allow you to go back if you have missed rings. And there is also the problem of rings blocked in walls. It’s a friend who told me this, he used I think a program but I don’t remember the name, which can show and edit the levels of sonic’s games, and he found rings in walls, like aquatic ruins act 2. I think this problem is dependent of the lost levels, since the sonic team had wanted that sonic travels in the time. By the way, I’ve got a question about sonic Boom, are we allowed to travel in the time in order to collect all the rings blocked in walls ? ( I prefer ask the question now :p) )
Then, there are also knuckles’ levels which are a bit different because some rings are out of reach ( he can’t jump as well as sonic ) and some monitors (with 10 rings) appears, like in chemical plant, so you have to be really patient to find them all.
I think it won’t be easy to do better scores, except metropolis ones, and maybe the mystic caves. All is played on the combos with enemies.

But I’ve got some problems of compression because there are too heavy but I’m not an expert in this field.

Yes i use a special translator, but I think he's mistaken...well doesn't matter, this will not prevent me from spending my times :)

Hello everybody, I'm new on this forum, because i'm french so i've got some problems to speak here... I was registered on this site in september 2005, it was a friend who told me the existence of a site of records about sonic's games, so I'm here :D I
A dream? to put all my times and other scores for all the games of the site:D But this will be a little long... I'm fan of sonic CD and 3D blast in particulary. And i think my point strong is the collection of the rings, but I don't like to make speedruns, what's more i'm lazy :o)
So i hope didn't make too much mistakes, if not my teacher will kill me X_X

oops i think I was badly explained ^^°
I wanted to say that each time eggman goes down and wants to balance its rockets, i go at the left or the right of the ground, in order to strike it as quickly as possible, without it being time to launch its rockets. So at first i stand to the left and i strike him, then he goes up and balance these things with peaks and when he go down again, i'm still waiting for him at the left of the level! I do the same thing for the nexts parts of the fight, and i get my 01:13. So that gives this:
left left right right left left right, the last blow is a little improvised and booom!
I have a bench mark: if i can't strike eggman at the sixth time on the left, that means that I was not rather fast and the record is missed.
So it's possible to do that, but it's really tight...

Yes, i did it again! It's not so difficult, you just have to go at the left of the ground near eggman, then strike eggman, after, keep going to the left and you can strike eggman easly one more time. Afterwards go to the right, and you can strike him 2 times. Then 2 at the left, 1 right, 1 left and to finish 1 right! But if you don't strike him enough quickly, all is shifted and it's more difficult...

Sorry for the double post, but i just would like to say that i have tried another rom, i make the same levels, and i have the same times except GGZ 2 with 0:14 ( i made a video ) and in WWZ2 i've got 01:05 and i made also a video, but i don't know how to uptload it on the site...

Hi, i'm french so sorry for my bad english...
I knew that there was something of suspect by making this record when i saw the number of people who had 1:15 and usually I don't make fantastics times like RPGnutter... But i'm not lying, at first i did 1:14, and then when I try to upgrade all my times i did 1:13 ... And for the others, i don't know, i make these times yesterday >_< Perhaps a problem of emulation or my rom is bad ( I use the megadrive version ) i don't understand, but don't worry i'm on it, i'll try to solve this problem this afternoon.
