General Sonic / Sonic Rush Adventure: Is it as good as Sonic Rush?
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:48:41 pm »
I've been trying to figure out whether or not to get SRA. I already have SR, played it a lot and is starting to get to the final extra zone. The only problem I have with SR is that, like New Super Mario Bros. and Contra 4, it's shorter than I wish it would be. What I wanna know is whether SRA is worth it or not. It's supposed to have wi-fi versus which sounded good to me, and I wish SR had that instead of just wireless.

Competition Central / Itt our own challenges?
« on: July 14, 2008, 11:44:34 am »
Alright so here is my personal challenge section for Sonic Rush. Follow the rules for each challenge and, if you feel like it, post your time results on this topic and I'll put it up on my own personal Leader boards. All runs must be done in time attack. I'll try and update as soon as possible, so dont be too stingy, I do have a full time job. Here are the challenges:

Sonic Rush--

Challenge 1: Zone: Leaf Storm
-rules: Get through act 1 and/or act 2 using any ability EXCEPT running or speed boosting (you're allowed to run for 1 second, but then you must use one of the other abilities). As a heads up, the big eggman ball segment near the end of act 2 is deadly to try using a spin dash, but it's not impossible. I've used the jumping forward trick and made it without a scratch.

LeaderBoards:
-Act1
Sonic:                                                   Blaze:

-Act2
Sonic:                                                   Blaze:

Challenge 2: Zone:Water Palce, Altitude Limit
-rules: Beat each act without using the speed boost. You must also finish each act without having all 3 speed bars filled.

LeaderBoards:
-Water Palace
--Act 1
Sonic:                                                  Blaze:

--Act2
Sonic:                                                  Blaze:

-Altitude Limit
--Act1
Sonic:                                                 Blaze:

--Act2
Sonic:                                                 Blaze:

Challenge 3: Zone:Mirage Road, Huge Crisis
-rules:Get through each act while always having 1 full speed bar from the start to the end. If you ever have less than 1 full speed bar at any time, the time attack wont count.

LeaderBoards:
-Mirage Road:
--Act1
Sonic:                                                Blaze:

--Act2
Sonic:                                                Blaze:

-Huge Crisis:
--Act1
Sonic:                                                Blaze:

--Act2
Sonic:                                                Blaze:

Enjoy!

General Sonic / Your favorite Sonic game on a handheld
« on: April 01, 2008, 05:29:48 pm »
Hello all, it's me again. Been a while since we last got a GBA, but now I'm thinking of getting a DS Lite. That's right, I want a handheld and I want it while they're still making games for it too. So far, I've decided on getting Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure and Bleach:The Blade of Fate. While I wait for the time to get one, lets have a poll. What is your favorite Sonic game on each handheld the franchise has been on, and phones and i pods don't count since they only have sonic 1.

Game Gear: Sonic GG 2

Sega Nomad ( ;) ): Sonic 2

GBA: Sonic Advance 2

DS: Not sure until I play them.

Gaming and Grazing / We just got our 1st gameboy advance =P
« on: November 09, 2007, 05:13:56 pm »
Lol so yah, my sis's friend is letting her borrow his gamecube, so she went out and bought SA2:B because she wanted to make and play her chao again. And now she went out and bought a GBA (the original one so it's easy on the hands) so she could do the chao gardens, give chao names, etc. She's already got a copy of Sonic Advance 2 coming so she can take her chao anywhere, and so I can have some real fun with the GBA ;3 What other games should we get if we do? I was thinking sonic advance 3 and castlevania COTM for starters, what do u think?

Gaming and Grazing / Tales of a ps2 modding newbie :S
« on: July 06, 2007, 08:13:00 pm »
OK, so for about 4 weeks or so I've been trying to mod my ps2 to play imports/backups. Why you might be axsking? Before I thought of modding my ps2, I bought SEGA/Sammy's new title Guilty Gear XX Accent Core from playasia.com Silly me was thinking "YES! Now I can play the newest GG game!" To be brief, when I learned about and got the 1st GG game for ps2, I went to gamefaqs.com only to see that the newest version GG XX reload was coming out... :S At first I thought it didnt mean much sense it looked almost identical. That was before I heard of shoryuken.com (lots of sites huh?) The folks there, being the fighting game gurus, told me that the difference was in how they programed Reload, reassuring me that it was far better than the one I had. Still I was reluctant to go and buy a new one for it seemed pointless to me. Years went by, they made GG Isuka and GG XX slash, etc. Then came along Hokuto no Ken, a new SEGA/Sammy game that really caught my eye. It looked like so much fun, and it was about one of my favorite animes =D I wanted to learn more about this game, and by doing so I was told it was not coming to the U.S. D= I was disappointed, wanting to know why not, and the only answer I got was playstation of America was no longer allowing 2d fighting games of any sort unless it was some capcom collection =/ I wanted HnK but I was reluctant to go out and get it...Later more, I hear of GG XX Accent Core for japan on the ps2, and that point I was more than willing to try and mod my ps2 so I could play the games! 1st, I got the game, again I was thinking I could get away with playing it without the mod...At this point, I was searching about modding a ps2 and i came across ultimate console guide. It was there that I started getting the stuff to do the modding. I got the slide card, a little card used to eject the cd holder in the ps2. Now, you cant just get a card and slide whenever...First you hafta get rid of the cover for the cd holder. The site had an instructions on how to do it, I followed it as best as I could. It looked like I did it...Then I turned the console on and, now i cant really use the eject button, since it'll freeze or get caught on something and struggle to go in =/ At least the card can help put it back in and work haa...Not only that, but you need a software also to play imports. See, the slide card isnt the only method to playing imports, but the point is that you need some way of swapping a software that allows you to play import without pressing eject as it erases any information from said software...Only problem was, I got the wrong software, and now im waiting for the right one to come in the mail *sigh* I also had to get a new ps2 since the old one is now deemed unusable by my family :S I swear I might just either get a flip top case (other modding function) for the new one, or just give up. Gahh! This wouldnt be happening if goddamn Ps of America would just allow the friggin 2d fighter games in the first place! Oh well, I'll just keep playing my Shining Force EXA and Phantasy Star Universe =P

General Sonic / Hmm, what way would you go?
« on: July 01, 2007, 10:23:27 am »
Nomad here, been awhile since i left! I have a question for yall: if the only console you had now were the ps2/xbox/gamecube and you wanted to get a new system that had sonic games on it, what would you pick? For me, im really thinking of getting a DS so I can play Sonic Rush, SR adventure and the M&S olympics game. At first I was thinking a wii so i could play SSR along with the new alien syndrome and Nights game, but then I was like "That or some new great 2D sonic games that have aimed to please a lot of players" My sis wants to get a 360, so then i can get sonic 06 and play that, im sure it's enjoyable and most the hate was just do to the loading screens =P Well thats wat I think ill do, how about yall?

Gaming and Grazing / Tha Yakuza/Yakuza 2 thread
« on: May 07, 2007, 12:53:21 am »
Hey all, this is Nomad talking about the Yakuza games. For those who dont know, Yakuza is an adventure/brawler game by SEGA, based on the japanese mafia a.k.a. Yakuza. You play as Kazuma, one of the toughest yakuza, who covered up two friends who shot the top captian of the yakuza and was sent to prison. 10 years later, he is released back in the streets only to find all the families in the yakuza against him. Not only that, but 10 billion yen in the yakuza vault is gone, creating much tension between the families. Kazuma now must figure out who is responsible for desrupting the yakuza and where all the money has gone. A lot of people will say this game is a copy of GTA, but thats very ignorant and IMO a false way of characterizing the game. Its gameplay plays differently, its not a basic *mash punch and hold attack button to fire gun* style that GTA was. Instead, a more complex fighting engine was implemented, where you can do combos, strong and weak moves, grapples, blocks and specials etc. In Yakuza, you can enter shops and restaurants or visit game stores and casinos or, if you really must (and dont lie, you will ;) ) go to hostess bars and flirt with women so they can ask for your e-mail =P. The thing that really makes Yakuza stand out from GTA is its more serious tone and atmosphere, where as GTA felt more cartoonish and goofy. Well, I think that should be enough to cover a good portion of what the game is like =P I want the sequal to come to the US dammit! okies, now that we got that out of the way, we can dicuss the game and stuff! Enjoy!

Gaming and Grazing / Wanna Talk Marvel vs Capcom 2?
« on: March 01, 2007, 06:56:37 pm »
Hii all, lets talk about MvC2, one of the greatest fighting games evar ya? ;P First off, my favorite team to use would prolly be Strider/Doom/Cyclops. I lik the ouroburo-molecular shield trap you get with Strider and Doom, plus they're both good fighters. I enjoy cyclop's anti-air assist a lot, and i enjoy using him a lot because of his strength and hyper combos. Personally, i lik all three for who they are too.

Does anyone here know of a good team to use with Charlie by any chance? i  want to get good with him since i became interested in him. here's a combo vid for those interested for charlie haha.

Really o.o Either im playing Sonic Advance3, my Genesis/SEGA classics/Sonic Mega Collections, Shining Force Neo, Shinobi/Nightshade or Phantasy Star Universe, or Im looking at what new SEGA games they're coming out with (Shining force EXA, Virtua Fighter 5 and SaTaR caught my eye) lol. Cant help it tho, Ive been playing SEGA since I was a kid, even had a Sonic T-shirt when I was 5 XD.Maybe I should try getting myself into other games more, or do something not-game related =P How about you all? « on: February 02, 2007, 11:11:15 pm »
Hi everyone, i am MrNomad. I found this site one day as i was looking for a site about sonic the hedgehog, and needless to say this caught my attention. To me it sounds very thrilling, setting records in sonic games and challenging others to best it! I wanna make videos of any sonic game i have, whether sonic 1, SA2 or the 2k6 sonic. Can anyone help me with wat exactly i would need to make and put on my comp a speed video and how i would submit it? Thanx in advance.
