News and Updates / Re: TSC Twitch Team!
« on: October 03, 2014, 01:41:56 pm »
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been here! I saw there was a TSC Twitch team and figured I'd inquire about joining it. I stream Sonic R pretty often (Have both Any% and Any% No OoB WR's), though I sometimes play non-Sonic games.

I like this idea, solely for the fact that I was always the best at Non-OoB play, and having the ability to play like that again to some compacity would give me a chance at first again. :D

We don't need to fight over what we think glitches are. The people that run TSC know what a glitch is, and its up to them whether or not they want to make a separate chart or something for non-glitch times.

Personally, I don't care how it gets done. Whether there's a separate chart, or we have to keep track of the competition separately. I just want people to actually compete. I have no reason to play right now because nobody else will.

Even if you guys are fighting over this stuff, you could still play. Because regardless of what happens, we'll still be keeping track of non-glitch times in some form, so get out there and make some records!

If this helps give people a reason to at least play, here are my non-glitch records (from the site at least, I know I have better times on a few though):

Resort Island
GP 3lap: 44"20
GP flap: 12"90
TA 3lap: 44"60
TA flap: 14"40
Reverse 3lap: 44"96
Reverse flap: 14"63

Radical City
GP 3lap: 1'09"63 (Almost positive I have a better run here)
GP flap: 21"26 (I think I actually have sub 21 here)
TA 3lap: 1'16"20 (I think I have 1'14 here now lol)
TA flap: 24"96 (iirc I have 24"3x now)
Reverse 3lap: 58"30 (Think I have 57"xx)
Reverse flap: 19"16 (Prob beat this like every other RC time xD)

Regal Ruin
GP 3lap: 51"46
GP flap: 15"93 (May have beaten)
TA 3lap: 53"63
TA flap: 17"30 (Possibly beat)
Reverse 3lap: 1'02"06 (n00b time, never played this seriously)
Reverse flap: 19"86 (Same as above)

Reactive Factory
GP 3lap: 1'06"36
GP flap: 20"73
TA 3lap: 1'09"96
TA flap: 23"00 (Probably have better)
Reverse 3lap: 1'01"90
Reverse flap: 20"36 (I think my 20"13 on the site I went through the wall with, not sure)

Radiant Emerald
GP 3lap: 1'52"50
GP flap: 32"36 (Have 30"40 with Metal Knuckles but that requires flying through a wall..)
TA 3lap: 2'07"20 (Possibly beaten)
TA flap: 41"43
Reverse 3lap: 2'10"40 (I know for sure I have at least 2'08 here though)
Reverse flap: 42"66 (Probably have sub 42)

Now go beat these records! :)

I don't think it's going to be changed on the site no matter how many people petition it. That doesn't mean we can't compete though. We just need some other outside ranking, like a thread for it or something.

Please please please attempt to beat my non-glitch times. If you need it I guess I could get a list together of my times based on old ones I had on this site. I've beaten some I'm sure but I haven't always recorded all my records, so if I find the correct memory card I can get a more updated list.

Bleh, I don't even care whether it goes onto the official charts or not. I just want people to give me competition on my non-glitch times. Nobody is very close to a lot of my times... If I needed to make more vids to help people with strats I would be more than willing, I'd just need a good quality camera.

I want people making it hard for me to get records!

That'd work too. I'd try to make something out of it myself but I wouldn't know where to start. I can always try to help though so if anyone has any ideas, let me know. :)

Well I'm sure someone can organize something, it doesn't even have to be official or anything. Just something to keep track of any non-glitch records amongst whoever wants to participate.

If enough people really wanted to, I'm sure there's a way we could keep track of at least the records that don't involve OOB.

I still keep track of all of my non-glitch PRs, and still try to lower those times despite the fact that they won't help at all on the charts. :)

I'm probably gonna start off with those 3 that I already am ranked poorly in since most of you say that. :p

Any tips or help is greatly appriciated! Thank you. :)

I've been wanting to play another sonic to try and get a good rank. I just don't know which one to pick though. For now my gaming time is limited, but once this semester ends at school I get a month break. I was hoping for a game with a learning curve that isn't too big or complex, and hopefully isn't too difficult. The games I have are SA2:B, SA:DX, SH, and whichever ones come on Gems and Mega Collection.

Any suggestions?

Well I know you'd be close, and my only competition for that matter; You just never played nonsc enough to see your potential, so you don't know how low you can take your times. So until we know that, I'm unchallenged. =P

I'm willing to do at least a forum type leaderboard for it, if that's allowed or anything. Better than nothing, maybe something more will come out of it one day..

It's just annoying sometimes know that imo (no offense to others) I'm the best Sonic R player, and yet I'm in 2nd by a good bit. I know without glitches I'm the best player, nobody else has proved to be close to giving a threat yet. I can go on and on complaining, but it's no use and I'd just look immature.

^I would do that, but I'm already #2. =D

I know the charts won't get changed so there's no reason fighting it. Maybe we need some charts elsewhere? o_O

This topic made me lol. Etch is legit, I know for a fact. he has vids, he knows what he's doing, etc.

As much as I hate these stupid shortcuts, what he did with them is amazing. Nobody is close because not many play the game to begin with, and with shortcuts it took a lot of interest away from those who did. I'm one of the few that even tried them, although I'm not very good at them anyway, besides from the fact that I hate them.

If more people tried, the charts would be closer together, we just need more players.

It's been 18 days since Sonic R had activity. The SCs really seem to be attracting people to play.

This made me lol.  =D

I always thought something was weird with sdj. I also play Sonic R really so I don't know about the other games, but even there stuff seemed rather fishy. As Etch stated, he would beat records I had taken hours to get in matters of like minutes. Of course that's entirely possible, but the probability of doing that time after time is slim to none.

Although freestyle would be great, I don't really have a reaosn to care anymore. =]

Freestyle the majorly glitched charts in my opinion. You could possibly allow glitches that simply create a shortcut in the level but do not allow you to break out and circle the finish line.

Yeah, that's what I was figuring. Like the old RC and RF reverse shortcuts would be fine imo.

RI: Completely Destroyed.
RC: Completely Destroyed.
RR: Completely Destroyed.
RF: Completely Destroyed.
RE: Semi-Destroyed; for now.

Have we ruined this game enough for all of you now? Good. Lets just all compete in tag and balloons now!

Good job to Etch btw, finding most of the glitches! =]

Well, all the current active submitters for the game are helping to further break the game.

Also, since I got no answer before, how is Amy useful on Resort Island?

I do this only to get some kind of split charts or something here. If we don't get split charts then idk.

Just wondering for statistical reasons, what other sonic game has the highest percentage of levels completely ruined to the point where Resort Island and Radical City have gone?

Just an overview for Sonic R:

Resort Island: 6/6 Ruined
Radical City: 6/6 Ruined
Regal Ruin: 2/6 Ruined (Reverse)
Reactive Factory: So far over the past two days, I've semi-ruined 2, and a 3rd can come soon. If I can do this all quick enough, I can do the 3laps and make it 6/6 semi-ruined.
Radiant Emerald: 6/6 Semi-Ruined really, people just need runs where they fall oob. I might be able to get sub-3 second laps here and such, I have to experiment.

So all in all, you can say 22/30, or about 73% of the game is excluding tag and balloons is stupid. It has a definate potential of 26/30. I'm also going to try and ruin Regal Ruin completely to make everything filled with glitches and shortcuts.

If this doesn't make an eventual freestyle chart, then nothing will. I'm sure though that if all of this glitches happen and there's no freestyle chart, then competition will drop to nearly nothing, because nobody wants to go through all of this tedious work. So either there will be freestyle charts, or everybody will completely hate this game.

I really think something should be done about all of this. Yeah it takes skill to do these glitches, but it takes more skill to go around the course fully. A big factor though that makes this really annoying is the fact that it isn't even fun. Most people are opposed to it, and they tend to lose interest in the game because of it. I know these shortcuts make me lose interest a bit, and many others feel the same.

PPA is right, half the game is broken basically. For races; All of Resort Island, All of Radical City, Regal Ruin Reverse are hugely broken. Radiant Emerald is broken too where you can fall off the stage and save time in either GP, TA or Reverse, it's just less substantial. Reactive Factory - You can go through the wall near the end (the beginning on reverse) which also saves like half a second.

All in all, the game is very broken. Eventually it will get to the point where all racing times are done with glitches going outside of the actual level, and it will not only be boring a pointless, but extremely tedious. I don't see why it's a huge problem to have two seperate charts, like PPA said - A regular times chart and a freestyle chart for the glitch times.

I'm so tempted to purposely mess this game up to the point where we need split charts lol.

@person above me: And as of now I'd say Regal Ruin reverse should be under there as well, because you can get under 5 second laps on that.

Even with using L or R, you can't skid as long as your moving in a somewhat straight path. If the gamecube version had the same mechanics as the PC version, all you would have to do is go back and forth on the control stick to skid and you would never need L or R.

Competition Central / Re: New Sonic R glitch found!!
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:42:09 pm »
You'd usually have to use it with L and R as well. There are instances where you can do on with just the control stick, but those are on sharp turns only. As far as I can tell, it's impossible to skid at all on a straight path like that without using a wall or any kind of solid object.

Competition Central / Re: New Sonic R glitch found!!
« on: February 24, 2008, 07:50:43 pm »
Yes, I've talked about the difference already with Etch.

On the computer version, you can simply press left and right back and forth (equivilant to pushing the control stick left and right on the gcn version) and perform skids like that. As far as my testing has gone, this isn't possible on the gamecube version. My friend (iPie who got banned lol) had the computer version and I tried doing the skidding like that and was easily able to do it there.

I also have never played the Saturn version so I'm not aware of the mechanics. It just sucks that the PC version has an advantage like that over the gamecube version. =/

Competition Central / Re: New Sonic R glitch found!!
« on: February 23, 2008, 11:40:56 am »
Sliding is faster, I figured that out some time ago. Take advantage of it as much as possible and your times will be much better.

One thing that sucks is in the computer version of Sonic R, you can just press the regular left and right buttons (not the "sharp turn" ones) and skid, kind of like snaking in MKDS, MKDD, etc. This isn't possible to do on the gamecube version... I've never played the originaal saturn version so I don't know if it can be done there or not.

In conclusion; SKID EVERYWHERE! :D

^ I did it myself and got my own 42.80 which I submitted. Since then though, I have improved my Radiant Emerald times a lot, and have gotten a flap of 41.90 without any glitches.

I have a Radiant Emerald time attack video where I get 2'07"73, and the last lap is 41"93, so you can see that I'm capable of doing that. :P
