It feels like there's so many random colors floating about the forum as of late, just by highlighting user names. It's an eyesore, imo.

I have mixed feelings. I think it would help if there weren't a hundred different coloured usergroups - most forums that use the coloured usernames only have a couple of different colours.

Should rename the usergroups LASER!, CUBE!, ROCKET!, etc

There aren't many different usergroups, though. We'll be building a BS-calling group, yes, and there's the old "cool" group and the new "cool" group in dark green and blue. All other colors are for admins or ex-admins, of which there are few. If you're seeing tons of colors around, then the problem is that nobody except the admins and privileged are talking. ;p
I am willing to agree that the contrast is occasionally high as I look at the Proto Good Future skin, but the idea of alternating row/post colors that are only slightly different is common to many forums and serves as a visual aid, so I won't slander the idea itself.

I just noticed my original post actually has a usergroup for each of the colors I used except for purple.
EDIT: Nope. Purple's used on B'days.

No, the colors aren't a problem, for me. The problem for me is that I lost all my SH data, even with some video proofs. Why am I going out of the topic? Ok, I liked your idea, Gerbil.

That would be an argument I'd lose by sheer numbers, so I'd rather not. I'll just resolutely stick to the correct spelling and pretend everyone else is doing the same.

I condensed a bunch of the colors yesterday. We have six colors now:
- Default color for regular users.
- Blue for cool users (If I Had A (Ban)Hammer, Broseidon)
- Green for moderators (I Have A (Ban)Hammer)
- Red for admins (Architect/Beast/Owner of the Matrix)
- Dark red for ex-admins (Designer of the Matrix, Architect Emeritus)
- Grey for banned users
The last one prolly isn't very visible on some skins since grey is used as the default, but meh. Should be significantly less confusing colors now.

It looks like the alternating row colors were toned down a bit too.

I didn't touch those. Unless Gerbil's been making some tweaks, they're the same as they were before.

Yes, Gerbil toned down some of the colors between posts. I will say that I'm a bit sad that the two "cool" groups were condensed, as the second one was made particularly because the former "cool" group was an "ex-cool" group like how we have ex-admins; they simply don't visit anymore.
Also, SDM has violated Section I Part III Rules 4 and 6 and will receive a healthy dose of trout to the face.
