Title: Schedule (Final Draft)
Post by: Thorn on February 13, 2013, 07:36:34 pm
All times are Eastern Daylight Time. Be aware that the United States and Canada will be in Daylight Saving Time throughout the marathon, while most of the northern hemisphere will start Daylight Saving Time on March 31 (the last day of the marathon).

If you didn't provide the stream test I asked for or never talked to me about it, I've removed you from the marathon. In any case of multiple people listed for a single-player game, I leave you to decide among yourselves who will do what. I have made some decisions already for the sake of streamlining the schedule and minimizing the workloads on particular streamers, but I have no preference on others. You could also attempt to stream two streams of two people, creating a race of sorts.

If you think a time window is too large or too small, make that known. Remember to err larger, not smaller, with your estimates -- filling time is easy, but creating time is difficult. Also make note of anything we should know about your stream -- for example, if a bunch of people want to do 100% runs, we will allot more time and extend the marathon another day to compensate.

Monday, March 25

Tuesday, March 26

Wednesday, March 27

Thursday, March 28

Friday, March 29

Saturday, March 30

Sunday, March 31

Will Sonic 3D blast be run? it could be done on 29th march in that gap

OK, early starts are -really- bad for me. 2pm in EST will be 4am where I am... If that means I drop off Sonic 2 and 3, so be it, I've played those games plenty at marathons and don't need to again.

Sonic Spinball should not take more than 25 minutes, and will not take more than 30.

Are we doing a bidding war for character choice in 06? If so, making it the third game is a really bad idea.

Still think we should do a 24/7 marathon. >.>

The schedule has been updated. Note that Monday has been added, and most of the Tuesday games from the previous schedule are now on Monday.

Still think we should do a 24/7 marathon. >.>

Sure, as soon as you want to organize and maintain it.

  • 2:30 PM - Sonic Rush Adventure - Cruizer
  • 3:45 PM - Sonic Colours (DS) - Cruizer

  • 6:20 PM - Sonic Drift - Luxray

Forgive me if I'm incorrect (I'm not particularly conversant with all the TSC folk) but are Cruizer and Luxray the same person? (If so it would be wise to change the schedule accordingly to avoid confusion - then again, the rest of TSC may not be as noobish as I am! :P)

EDIT: I see Thorn's modified his post, changing 'Luxray' to 'Cruizer' - I was right about Cruizer's alternate persona. :V

^ You totally meant "fursona", right?

The schedule is updated to revision three. Luxray dropped out of Drift, so NiGHTS will be extended by playing the Christmas content or by showing one or two stages from the Wii sequel. Sonic 2006 was switched with Sonic Generations so that Parax has more time to run his character bidding war.

We need volunteers to stream on Sunday, March 31 for bonus streams. We can do late-night bonus streams after each night almost on a whim, but organizing another day will be tough and should be done in advance; we're unlikely to have one person volunteer for the entire day again.

^I could post my fursona, but there's an elephant in the way.

When you talk to people about Sonic the Hedgehog, they usually don't think about Sonic Riders or Sonic Chaos. They think about Sonic 1 or 2, Sonic Generations, Sonic Adventure 2 or sometimes Sonic 06.

I think it'd be a better idea to have the most popular games during friday/saturday rather than to burn them during the workdays.

I am playing all stories. Correct?

I think it'd be a better idea to have the most popular games during friday/saturday rather than to burn them during the workdays.

Saturday cannot change, as the multiplayer games involve getting several people together in one location and I need a weekend to do that. Friday night is also set to an audience participation event for the sake of having the largest possible audience playing. The only people who should have off during the day on Friday that wouldn't have off during the day on other days would be devout Christians (Good Friday) and not-so-devout Christians pretending to be devout for the sake of the holiday.

If there's anything you really want done on a weekend, consider doing it as a bonus stream on Friday night, Saturday night, or anytime Sunday. In your case, that would be something like "if somebody else does Sonic 2/3&K, I'll do it as a different character." I can't force you, of course, but it's a suggestion to go along with your suggestion.

I am playing all stories. Correct?

Yes, in accordance with your previous post that was something like "gimme a month to prepare and I can learn Dark and Last stories".

Alright, I was just making sure. You might wanna add a extra 10 minutes just in case the PC version could end up crashing or my controller end up disconnecting randomly, and it could be a pain to get back up.

I've been taking a break from speedrunning, but recently I've been getting back into it- especially Ristar and I really feel I could pull off something special this year, so if you still have slots to fill give me a shout, I also have a working mic now:) BTW even playing my bro at Puyo over hamachi on Kega is a horrible lagfest:( So co-op with FF would have been impossible.

The schedule has been updated to revision four: this doesn't affect most of you. It changes Saturday due to Gamble's offer to play Ristar coming at the exact same time that I was sent an e-mail about working on Saturday morning.

I can understand Saturday, but I still think it's odd that Friday is "8-bit sonic day" while those are some of the less popular (even unknown) games in the series (no offence to anyone running them ofc).

It should probably be possible to do something during the bonus, sure. But I don't really want to contemplate about that right now as the schedule is still being worked on.

Thursday and Friday is no good for me since it looks like I'm still working on those days.  Any other day is good unless something changes before the marathon.  Of course I'll let you know if it does.

Only thing I'm worried about is the workplace changing my shift from night to day.  On Friday I would have the day off for a guaranteed day, but if they don't do a last minute change then that time should work for me.

Guess I should start finding those routes and testing how long a full run might go~

The schedule is on its fifth revision. We still have many gaps that need to be filled, although their times have been changed.

I can fill the 2:30 gap on Monday with a tails SADX run. Should take around 23-30 minutes. :)

We did Tails last year, but I'm okay with this compared to a nice helping of dead air. I'll add it in; thank you for doing this.

Oh hey, you changed me to Friday.  That's good because I came here to post that they changed me back to day shift which would've conflicted with the old time.  woot

DsS can do Sonic Colors because he's way better than me, so you can take my name off for that game.

Also I'm a little confused about the times, I'm at GMT and on the schedule I'm doing Sonic 1 on Friday 29th March at 3:30pm, so what time does that mean I'm at (I'm terrible at working out time differences lol)? will EST be 6 hours behind or 4 hours?

Thanks

Before 1:00 AM GMT on March 31st this year (at which time British Summer Time 2013 will begin and the clocks will shift forward an hour, so EST = GMT - 6:00), EST = GMT - 5:00, so your 3:30 PM EST run will be at 8:30 PM GMT. (The clocks will shift back an hour at 1:00 AM GMT on October 27th this year; they always shift ahead an hour on the last Sunday of March and shift back an hour on the last Sunday of October in the UK.) :)

^ You're forgetting that the United States will be in DST before most other countries. We'll be four hours behind GMT residents for the majority of the marathon; if any events occur on Easter Sunday, we'll be five hours behind on that day since DST will kick in for most countries.

^ Silly me, sorry; I completely forgot to take into account the time changes in the US. Looks like SonicBoom737's run will be at 7:30 PM GMT then.

So if I live in Arizona, I'd be playing at 3PM or 1PM? (I'm always lost on this subject)
Title: Re: Schedule (Sixth Draft)
Post by: SpanielWare on March 08, 2013, 02:51:25 pm
^ All parts of Arizona (except the Navajo Nation community) observe Mountain Standard Time all year round, and MST = EST – 2:00. However, on March 10th this year, DST starts in EST regions and the clocks shift ahead an hour, meaning at that time MST = EST – 3:00. Therefore (if I am correct) you'll be running Sonic Riders at 3:00 PM your time on the Tuesday. (Even if you do live in the Navajo Nation community it only enters DST in April so it'll be no different there.)

Nice to know that's cleared up. I swear, Arizona has to be so different sometimes.

Arizona doesn't observe DST, so you're 3 hours behind EDT: 6 PM EDT == 3 PM MST.

You'd be playing at 3 PM Arizona time.
