After my heart was broken by my last failed Nuzlocke run of Heart Gold last night, I decided I would start over and give it another go AND THIS TIME KEEP A JOURNAL OF MY ADVENTURES OF SOME SORTS in lieu of my ability to actually draw.
What is Nuzlocke I hear you ask? Read this: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Nuzlocke_Challenge
I am using the two main rules as well as the following additional rules:
- No duplicate captures
- Nicknames must be given to team members
- Black/White out is a game over and the save file must be deleted
- Fainted Pokemon are to be deposited into the final box in the PC so that they may live on in memory /salute
- Shiny Pokemon are always eligible for capture
SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO
Captain's Log, Day 1
- Began my game as Viktor.
- Got a Cyndaquil named Frosty.
- Beat my rival and named him Batman.
- Caught a Pidgey on Route 29 and named her Flappy.
- Strolled into Route 46 and caught a Rattata and named him Jupiter.
- Route 30 yielded a Rattata for me :(
- Caught a Bellsprout on Route 31 and named him Cocktaker.
- Took a quick walk into DARK CAVE and caught a Geodude named Rockgroin with my final pokeball, which was terriying because I thought I had more than one left, and if it had broken out I would've forfeited my Pokemon from this area D:
- Arrived in Violet City!
As of now my team is as follows:
Jupiter - Level 6 Rattata
Rockgroin - Level 6 Geodude
Flappy - Level 7 Pidgey
Frosty - Level 9 Cyndaquil
Cocktaker - Level 3 Bellsprout
- A quick walk onto Route 32 yielded a Rattata :(
- As did Sprout Tower :(
-
Not gonna lie. This:
- Beat my rival and named him Batman.
...made me read this:
- Arrived in Violet City!
...as this:
- Arrived in Gotham City!
-
I didn't know not-releasing your starter was an option... what's to stop you from one-running the game?
-
Nothing realistically, but trying that as a strategy isn't superviable incase you mess up and die.

update plzzzz

Captain's Log, Day Two
- Clipped Falkner's wings and set off for Azeala Town!
Team is as follows:
Flappy - Level 11 Pidgey
Jupiter - Level 11 Rattata
Frosty - Level 14 Quilava
Rockgroin - Level 14 Geodude
Cocktaker - Level 3 Bellsprout
Oh and a Mystery Egg I guess
- Union Cave had ANOTHER Rattata for me! >:C
- The route between it and Azeala Town however gave me a level 8 Hoppip, named Spore, who is confined to the PC for now.
- Slowpoke Well gave me a level 7 Zubat, named Brobat, who has replaced Flappy in my main team.
- Squished Buggsy and then took on Batman again; I was woefully underprepared for Batman, and as such took a casualty in the form of Cocktaker, God bless his soul :(
Team is now:
Brobat - Level 12 Zubat
Jupiter - Level 15 Rattata
Rockgroin - Level 16 Geodude
Frosty - Level 17 Quilava
Flappy - Level 15 Pidgey
Oh and a Mystery Egg I guess
- Ilex Forest gave me a level 6 Caterpie, named Destructor

Say, I'm doing an Expert Emerald Nuzlocke myself!
Rules are as follows:
- Faint = Box time!
-- Unless I can revive them in battle.
- Catch only the first Pokémon I can on each route.
- No dupes.
-- Shiny Pokémon don't and can't count as dupes, fortunately.
- All of my team fainting is a Game Over.
-- Unless I can't catch anything other than my starter, as you'll soon find out.
DAY 1
- Named myself Anvil.
- Saved Prof. Birch's life with a serious Ivysaur who I later named Jay Gatz.
- After a false start (No Game Over here since I can't catch anything), I rose back up to defeat May just after JG learned Vine Whip. 2HKO for her Skitty, and Mudkip went down in one shot.
- Run into and catch a careful Whiscash named Percy.
Current team
JAY GATZ - L10 Ivysaur
PERCY - L10 Whiscash
Down and out
None yet!

I should really do some more of my own run, relatedly, is Expert Emerald a hack of Emerald, if so it is relevant to my interests~

Yes, it is. It's pretty much that "Emerald 386" thing, except way more challenging. Emerald 386 is a fellow hack.
edit
Ya know what? I'm restarting with Vanilla Emerald, except random wild encounters.
- Same as last time, but you can catch more than one Pokémon per location!
CHAPTER 1
- Named myself Anvil, as usual.
- Used a quiet Magnemite named Marvin to save Prof. Birch.
- After learning ThunderShock, Marv went on to decimate May's Mudkip in one blow.
- Caught a quiet Aron named Cloisonne on Route 102.
Next
- Meet up with Norman (and Wally), then shove off for Rustboro
Bros:
Marvin - L8 Magnemite
Cloisonne - L6 Aron

Been a little while since I played/updated, but now I am in...Goldenrod City I think.
Ilex Forest gave me the gift of a level 6 Caterpie, named Destructor.
The route between Ilex Forest and Goldenrod gave me a level 10 Drowzee, named No
TIME FOR MORE LEVELLING BEFORE MILTANK OF DOOM.
Edit: Route 35 had an Abra that broke out of a Great Ball and teleported away :(
National Park had a Caterpie.
Route 36 gave me a level 12 Nidoran Male, named Da King.
Edit2: Defeated Whitney with no problems! Then during the double battle with the trainers that have a Wigglytuff and a Clefable each, Jupiter the Rattata died from a critical hit :C. RIP.
Edit3: The route to the left of Ecruteak gave me a TAUROUS. He is named Yakkety after an animal companion in my D&D game. Mount Mortar gave me a Zubat. Route 42 gave me a level 13 Mareep, named Elecman.

I've decided to start clean and go with FireRed.
Rules
i. Faint is grounds for boxing fainted Pokémon.
- Unless I can give the victim a normal or Max Revive.
ii. Dupes don't work on me, only shinies!
iii. Team loss equals game over.
- Except when I'm limited to my starter.
iv. Name monsters based on whatever I can think of.
v. I will attach a Word-based journal that details my happenings. This journal will update each Act.
vi. This will only cover up to the first Champion battle.
ACT1: A New Hope
- Named myself Anvil, as usual. My rival is named 9Ball, or ⑨ (Guess the reference!).
- Withdrew a Potion from my PC, just in case I'm struggling.
- Got saved by Oak and went to his lab.
- Currently have a choice between Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Which one should I choose?
Bros:
None
Reserves:
None
Out of commission:

I all kinds of died on Heart Gold, I forgot that Jasmine's fucking Steelix is level 35 for god knows what reason and it ate literallt 4 of my team members.
THAT ASIDE, HERE IS POKEMON NUZLOCKE - THE MOTION PICTURE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLseXtUTGHg

That's too bad, RPG. Better luck next time, though.
On another note, I'm working on a Yellow Randomlocke!
So far, I've gotten all the way past Nugget Bridge with two badges.
