If anyone votes Netscape I am:
1. Murdering them.
2. Making it painful.
3. Starting my planetary destruction early.
All votes must be posted in thread!
-
I voted Firefox, but I would have voted Opera had it been on the list. I run it directly from my flash drive (google "opera@usb 9.62") so it's awesome that I can use it wherever.
-
By the way, it's against TSC rules to murder someone for their beliefs. Then again it's against TSC rules to murder anyone for most reasons anyway, you can blame RPG for that <_<
-
Firefox is nice, it doesn't randomly slow down like IE does. >_>
-
I like firefox. IE crashes too much. Haven't used the others in ages.
-
I like Chrome. I found it similar to Firefox, and it's only beta. I see potential in it.
-
Grr, 2 voters for Netscape, none of them admitted it. HMPH!!!
At least Firefox is winning.
BTW who added ELinks? I'm kinda annoyed now!

What the hell is ELinks?
-
I looked it up. Here's the wikipedia entry on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELinks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELinks)
But seriously, text based? (Edits poll to remove ELinks)
EDIT: There are now 3 votes for Netscape. ADMISSIONS PEOPLE!!!
EDIT2: Typo :P
-
What's wrong with it?
This message is brought to you by ELinks, for example.
-
Prove it.
-
Prove it.
See that "L" icon underneath CodeGirl's username? Move your mouse over it. The tooltip says "ELinks".
Also, KDE Konqueror ftw.
-
Yeah, I noticed. But that just means that ELinks was the last browser she used on TSC.
And agreed, KDE Konqueror ftw.
-
Netscape is my favorite browser i use it all teh tiem.
-
BANHAMMER!!!
Um, two secs.
/me murders ARCANE ALBATROSS OF FOREBODING
/me makes it painful
3 will occur as soon as I can think of a plan.
(You had to have such a long name, didn't you?)

(Firefox's spell check confirms there are 12 spelling errors in this message)
-
fail.
Also, I see the little 'Firefox' icon in your corner.
And now I feel really annoying.
-
wow, I didn't even see that there</sarcasm>

Personally, I've always wanted to build my own browser, but I'm too lazy, honestly, as it would not benefit anyone but me... There are a lot of things that browsers use that I don't need... the most prominent being any help functions, as, since I use my bed as a keyboard tray, I often hit F1 while moving and come back to a half-ton of help-screens when I come back (about 1-2 times a day)
-
lol XD
-
Safari is cool, its way faster than IE
-
I would have more respect for someone who's still using a Netscape version prior to 8 than the alternative.
-
I voted Chrome, as it is what I use most. It is just very uncluttered, and I don't even notice I'm using it, so that is nice, as opposed to the 50 lines of crap that are at the top of ever other browser on earth.
-
I find firefox to be very uncluttered...
I'm curious: Does anyone else use fullscreen when browsing?
I use it for wikipedia surfing, but not too much else, unless there's something that requires it...
-
Have you tried Chrome? It reduces the interface down to one combined url/search bar with a few buttons and the tab bar. The speed is also outstanding; Javascript in particular blows everything else away. The primary drawback is no addons.

I always use full-screen whenever browsing, personally.
I'll probably stick with Firefox for many years to come, plug-ins such as AdBlockPlus (used to disable any banner/image/url you name, either specifically or via generalized scripting) make it all worthwhile, lessening my clutter and bandwidth usage on the internet as a whole. The only things at the top of my screen are quick links to my regular sites (MAJOR improvement over my old method of keeping them in favorites, the space used is well worth it), the toolbar (I HATE browsers that put the toolbar into a button, as it ever-so-slightly obstructs quick access to options), and the main navigation bar, which I wouldn't call obstructive or cluttered by any stretch of the imagination.
Firefox also sees major improvements with a little program called Firetune, which just tweaks some settings in the browser for optimum performance.
Since I have too much time on my hands, here's a photoshot of my screen as it is right now:

I use firefox or chrome. IE crashes when I am running something that has Flash10x in it, it always gives me a windows error saying that the addon Flash10x does something wrong or something. But I never get it in Firefox or Chrome.
But in Youtube I started having a problem in the videos. Sometimes in some videos it would shift videos numerous times. Say it goes from Regular, then to shifts to a smaller vid in the top left corner of the vid screen and keeps doing that for the entire video.
Sometimes it does not do that, but It does do it as much as it don't so I don't know what is wrong. I tried every browser I had and it kept doing it. I even asked about it in the Help forums on youtube no one answered me. So I was wondering why it does that.
-
Opera FTW.
-
Interesting set of links, there...
my hot-bar is, in order, Google, Craigslist, Runescape, YT, TSC, SDA, TG, TASV, Mafia, my banking stuff, my e-mails (gmail, yahoo), and ebay...
-
RUNESCAPE...GET...IT...AWAY...
-
OPERA! I have mine set up to make HAL 9000 sounds. :3
-
it's a cheap MMO that lets me play with tons of people who don't have a problem with low graphics... further, it means that there are NO GRAPHIC WHORES IN MY GAMES!
-
My main issue with Runescape (besides that jagex doesn't care how shitty it looks) is that it cuts off 95% of the game until you pay for it. And the leveling system in it is -obscure.-
Oh and the death system sucks too
But if necessary we can take this discussion to a separate topic
On topic, Chrome (and sometimes Firefox) > all

The graphics are better on High Detail and you can only get it by paid membership

I know this well, but it's still nothing in comparison to WoW or GW or the like...
hell, I consider it to be the worst 3D graphic MMO to date, personally...
-
Well the game is very fun but it's the only free one I find fun (to a point) I was thinking of www.piratesonline.com my friend tried it he likes it, there is also Fusion Fall on www.cartoonnetwork.com, What is Club Penguin?, If I get enouf money on my birthday I might get the WoW complete pack that has the full game, the 1st expansion and both guide books. I have also done Habbo and AdventureQuest I don't like AQ because it is worse than Runescape, Habbo is fun to a point but you have to pay to get good things for your room or to do any extra fun.
Runescape Score: 7.5/10
WoW: (I tried the free trial): 8/10
Fusion Fall: 7.8/10
Adventure Quest: 6/10
Club Penguin: Pending
Pirates Online: Pending
Habbo: 7.6/10
any other good FREE online mmos out there?
-
*facepalm*
I originally created this topic to see which browser was the most popular in TSC (although why, I have no idea. It should have been obvious that it was Firefox). Now, it's descended into an MMO debate, and before that, a 45 day revival >:(. If this doesn't stop (or at least go back on topic) I'm just going to lock the damn thread.
-
Then let there be a movement to stick the MMO posts into their own thread. MMO Wars maybe?
-
I like the idea of just keeping with the hijacked topic...
Also:
EVE>JDGA
-
Then if Yahtzee is believed, JDGA is far below something that, in four words, is described "massive waste of time" or "Bored, bored, bored, EYESTRAIN."
I cba to play Eve anyway even if I had the money, that interface and the repetitive spaceness would get old quick

I, for example, have never dealt with the "spaceness"... I'm a stock-market/skills player...
Hopper (my roomie), is a pirate/PVP player
-
Yeah I believe a strong point was made regarding going nowhere near player-owned corporations, and that the method to build up skills is rather lame and described as "Pick a skill to train, turn off the game, and go to sleep. Literally."
EDIT: Oh yeah, and the bizarre quote "How the fuck does 'signature analysis' differ from 'signature focusing' and how does it help me FLY AROUND SPACE SHOOTING THINGS?"
By the way, link to the ZP itself. (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/208-Eve-Online)
