Title: puzzle game - Dot Riddle
Post by: maggot on March 26, 2008, 10:24:02 pm
Me and some friends made a riddle game similar to notpron called Dot Riddle, with some new features (you can save your progress, registration with very few information asked and a trial to see the first levels). Hope you guys enjoy!

K, you did your job and got me pleasantly stuck at level 4. I'll return tomorrow when it's not 11pm.

I'm just started Level 1 and am already reminded of the Tim Tang Test .... I need to try that again sometime too.

I couldn't get past level 1, and I'm usually really good at puzzle games. Try this one if you think you're good at this game.   http://www.notdoppler.com/theimpossiblequiz2.php

I refuse on ethical grounds!

We're all stuck on level 4...I've tried every combination of multiple differences between the cards themselves (you spelled 'difference' wrong in the title-unless this is intentional? You also didn't fully punctuate your comment in the source either...unless this is intentional too? I would have thought 'card position' was the solution too), cryptic solutions (like 'no differences', or 'nothing different', 'next level', 'user password', etc.), the cards spelling things out, differences between the kings represented by the cards, etc. I have this sneaking suspicion that I have entered the solution allready, just in an incorrect form (like a plural noun instead of a singular). Though I don't want the answer from you Maggot, I'll plow my way through it.

Does the game tell you if you get one of the criteria correct, or does it display 'incorrect user/password' every time?

hmm, stuck on level 2. do we have to do something similar to level 1 for every level?

I just cleared level 4 with the *slightest* prompting from maggot (I pm'd him a bunch of things I entered, thinking I probably got the wrong part of speech for the word or something...he told me one of the criteria was right and a general hint as to how to continue. The answer is, of course (read at your own caution, it will be a few lines down, in black, as a marquee...I may have reversed the order by mistake):

STEFEDIT: I tried making the spoilers more difficult to accidentally see.
F-MANEDIT: obligatory microsoft marquee tag remover at your service

SPOILERS FOLLOW AHHH

Mustache/Axe

SPOILERS END WHEEEEE

Edit: level 6 now, I've been reading about 'Tsar Bomba' and trying different things associated with it...location, designers, the name itself, etc. I noticed the 'mistery' subdirectory (another typo?), so I've been trying to enter the solution in and out of that directory...perhaps another directory contains the answer?

Black text doesn't disguise things for the Chaos Angel skin. :( We need spoiler tags like other SMF forums have...

fuzzerd: it's not exactly the same way. The first level is like a tutorial of how to use the source code to find a clue. From now on, you have to interpret what you find there (if it's something there).

Antiporcupine: did you open correctly the source code?

Blueblaze: you're going too far on level 6 :D. Read hint 10 on the hints page, maybe that's why you didn't pass it already.
And the "mistery" one was on purpose.

Thorn: I agree.

I forgot you had to enter the answer in lower case with 'php' at the end, I was kicking myself for not realizing that sooner (PPA pointed it out to me-the same thing happened on the next puzzle).

I'm just about to start number 9.

Edit: ...hm, I think this requires some knowledge of Portugese. Maggot-could you translate these words: sky, clouds, answer (command form), ponder, and ponto?

sky = ceu
clouds = nuvens (cloud = nuvem)
answer = resposta
power = poder
point = ponto

google's language tools is your friend too!

I just had a nightmare about this game. The thing is, it wasn't this game(hard to explain)! Luckily I came up with a way to beat level 1(yeah, I'm still stuck on it).

well, "having a nightmare with the level for enlightenment" was not the way I thought to pass level 1 xD, but if it suits you, that's fine.

I'm glad to say that Dot Riddle's forum is now online! (a little rough, but online)!

There you can ask for hints for any level you're in need of. There's one topic for each level in the game.

Enjoy!

For those in level 9, we made a small modification there. Maybe it gives a new line of thought.
