Title: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 07, 2007, 08:29:54 am
Finally, my goals of creating a site strictly for my genre of choice and the competitive mini-games therein can be realized as now I have the means to which to execute it after so long...

Either Party Game or Mini-Game Center. Unsure ATM for the actual name… (More leaning towards the latter as I have a couple games that aren’t in the Party genre – see: SM64DS/New Mario Bros). I’m definitely taking the lead in this so don’t worry about that.

Encompasses the following games whereby there are instances of competition potential:
* indicates I have the game (for GBA, sometimes by Rom but not always)
(R) indicates I’ve rented it or tried it at some point and am familiar with how it’ll work for competition (some more than others, naturally)

Mario Party (1-8)
 = I own 1, 6, and 7, Advance (ROM); tried them all except e-Reader but that won’t get added anyway
 = 8 will be added once it gets released; will go more in-depth when I get it in June
*Fuzion Frenzy
*SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! (GC/PS2/Xbox)
*SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! (GBA)
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! (PC)
*Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (GC/PS2/360/PS3) <-Same as above just different gameplay thus it’s separated.
Rayman Raving Rabbids (PC) <-See above.
Rayman Raving Rabbids (GBA/DS)
(R) Super Mario 64 DS
(R) New Super Mario Bros.
Warioware
 =Touched (DS)
 *=Twisted (GBA) – Have Rom
 *=Mega MicroGame$ (GBA) – Have Rom
 =Mega PartyGame$ (GC)
 =Smooth Moves (Wii)
(R) Barnyard (Wii)
Barnyard (GC/PS2/360/PS3) <-Same as Rayman.
Barnyard (GBA)

I really have to head on over to Elite Scores and submit my (potential and definite) world records, eh, yoshifan? (Monkey Wars and Keepy Up FTW! :D) as I can’t get over the fact that I can’t add Banana Blitz’s mini-games… Grr…

Other Potential Additions:
(Any of the ones that are crossed out can easily be added. Most have been crossed out due to the speculation that there would be lack of interest. Some, though, were crossed out due to their lack of “competitiveness” – if you will.)
*I would love to add Shuffle and SATSR to the list as it doesn’t seem like I’ll see either (especially the former) anytime soon. It’ll knock something off of Rolko’s ever-growing, and changing to-do List I guess. Thoughts? (I’m sceptical myself; maybe I shouldn’t but I am starting to grow a little impatient with Shuffle.)
(*) indicates I have the game.

Ape Escape Academy (Seems fitting to add but I need more info on the game…)
Ape Escape Academy 2 (We’ll see when it comes out.)
*The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA (Has timed mini-games if interested.)
*Madagascar (Some competitive mini-games. Actually, not really…)
Crash Boom Bang!
Pacman Fever
SEGA Superstars
Fuzion Frenzy 2
My Street
Nickelodeon Party Blast
Shrek: Super Party
SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
Cartoon Network Block Party
*Happy Feet
(Have the Wii version – not by choice)
Disney’s Party
*Disney Sports: Motocross (1 competitive game and one somewhat competitive game of the only 3 available in the game. Not worth it…)
*Rugrats: I Gotta Go Party (A couple are competitive from the one’s I’ve briefly tried but people won’t bother with this anyway. Not worth it in the long run.)
Tamagotchi: Party On! (It’s still a Party Game… We’ll see when it comes out although I don’t particularly want to add it but I can if it’s competitive/there’s interest.)

* Seemingly, there is no (major gameplay) difference between WarioWare: Mega PartyGame$ and Mega MicroGame$. I’ve grouped them together, so you’re aware.

Categories:

Times, Scores, Coins, Bosses, Extra, Proximity, Survival, Challenges, Distance

Notes :
*Coins = Mario Party games
*Bosses = Warioware, Rayman
*Extra = Extra games from Mario Party Games such as Mecha Fly Guy.
*Proximity = Games like Gimme a Brake that require you to get as close to 0.00 as possible. Should I just place these under Times? It can work that way too as opposed to having one division for the category for the applicable games.
*Survival = Rayman Raving Rabbids: Bunny Hunts (Survival Mode)
*Challenges = Rayman Raving Rabbids
*Distance = Distance games (not “proximity to 0.00 games”) are, essentially “how far can you go” games. Examples are Mecha Fly Guy, Bowser Toss (Mario Party), Bunnies don’t know what to do with cows (Raving Rabbids) and Super Squirt (Barnyard).

*Question: Should mini-games that have a countdown timer have a separate category or just put them under times as they will be different?

Divisions:
Notes:
*For Mario Party mini-games, all record games will be added, sometimes indicated by the following: “Record” or “(R)”.
*No luck-based or memory-based games will be added for any of the games. Most coin/bonus games will also not be added.
*Mini-games I’ve already eliminated for one reason or another will not appear on the lists. Only some mini-games (e.g, Rayman and some in Mario Party) will have a strikethrough through them.
*Most of the 1VS3 and the Item Mini-games will not be added unless (a) they are competitive or (b) they are record games. The 1VS3 mini-games that are added will only have divisions for the when you are placed by yourself/alone and against a team of 3. This is indicated by “(1)”. Those sub-divisions will be known as “Single Player”.
*Games that say “Counter” have a score tabulation during/at the end of the game. This does not refer to a countdown timer.
*If anyone knows why any of the WarioWare games shouldn’t be added, please let me know. I did cross out a couple cause I tried them. Otherwise, the rest haven’t been tested by me for competition. Your co-operation in this matter is appreciated as there are a lot of mini-games… In fact, this goes the same for any of the mini-games in any of the games, really. Also, if I’ve omitted a mini-game, it’s usually been for a good reason but if you have a reason why it should be added and/or you just want to know why I removed it from the list, just ask.

I’ve check out which ones are largely affected by this skill level setting to determine the best course of action regarding divisions for them. Otherwise, all below remaining mini-games have been checked for potential (good) competition and quite a few were removed: e.g, all 1VS1 mini-games and some of the 2VS2 mini-games.

I have all three Monkey Wars records. :o

I was playing Rayman just now (La-La Bamba! :D) and I thought of an idea for another division.

Total Points you have in Score Mode. It's perfect. This is different from the "total" from all times, scores, etc.

Max is 183000 but for the Wii version it's like 170000-something or other. Can someone find out what that max is?

As it stands, I'm only 43.3% complete, with 79182. I have a REALLY long way to go which is why I love Rayman. It's such a difficult game to master (possibly harder than Heroes!) and it's PERFECT for competition. I can't wait. :)

Pretty soon, on all my Center Discussions I'll be doing a bit of touch up and then posing questions to all of you (e.g, regarding potential staff).

Not going to add WarioWare after all. I will re-add if a staff member joins with experience in the area for Smooth Moves and Touched and the GBA ones if possible.

Thus...

Progress:
-Super Mario 64 DS and NSMB divisions need to be ironed out. Someone help?!
-Need to add new Rayman division
-Staff members needed

Party Game Center is the name I decided on after all.
Mini-game Center is a little too broad I think.

Side note, I'm now almost 45% complete Rayman with over 80000 points. Boy is that game tough...

edit:
Currently doing NSMB and SM64 DS charts. After that, I only have to add to the Rayman chart and I'm done.

All done. Re-did Rayman chart as well (just added the other division at end).
Now that I'm done all the division charts, what's next?

Notes to Self/Whomever is Adding Divisions:
-In Rayman, for the following games, a higher time is better:
->B. Don't Like Bats (1, 2)
->B. are Addicted to Carrot Juice
->B. Don't Give Gifts
->B. Never Close Doors (1, 2)

I remembered what I have to do next. The rules list. I added a few more. Will appear soon I guess. I still don't know what I have to do after this though as this is a Center I can manage on my own if necessary.

yoshifan, look at my proudest stat for the game. I'm so happy for myself. [http://www.elitescores.com/rank_all.php?gid=21&lvl=237] It's hard enough to get over 21000. Check out my rankings table for it:

Um, I think O_o sums this topic up.

Well, I like the Mario Party idea though as that's the only series I play out of that entire looooooooong list. Well, Times=Times, Coins=Rings, Proximity should go, Distance=Scores (just a score with a decimal value), Scores=Scores. Most of the coin charts are going to be rather random (that minigame in MP3's raft game comes to mind) and some are easily maxed (MP1's Whack A Plant comes to mind). It'd be really interesting though. :o
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 11, 2007, 12:58:48 pm
Yeah, I was debating if I should add Whack-a-Plant or not.
Thanks for your input, appreciate it.

Would you like to help me launch the center? You can help me in the Mario Party area. I could use all the help I can get as I'm still the only staff member ATM...

Re: Proximity, what would those games, then, fall under?

New Game to add to List:
Super Paper Mario
-> Has Mini-games; Mario Center probably won't add them
edit: One is "Mansion Patrol".

I'm DEFINITELY keeping the MINI-GAME CENTER name, then as other games on the list don't fall under the "Party Game" genre.

Note to Self:
*Add note to Mario Party charts that Whack-a-Plant will not be added.

And sonicam, you could've just referred to the charts...
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: sonicam on April 11, 2007, 01:08:31 pm
Um, sure, I don't mind helping, I only have 1, 3 and 5 though. I don't think Proximity should go anywhere since IIRC, it's just press A when the timer is close to 0 seconds, there's a definite max in times and we scrap that (Bridge 2 of S1GG/MS).

Someone seems to have a lot of time on his hands...

I might try some of the Mario Parties or something, but I'm not really good, nor am I really interested.
I have 1, 2, 3, and 6, plus I can borrow 5. I'll probably end up playing just 6 and maybe 2.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 13, 2007, 12:45:50 pm
Interested in joining staff, Marth or anyone else?

And checking 6 out won't be neccessary. Same with 1. I've already evaluated them. And Marth, I've been planning this for some time so it hasn't been some last minute thing... I jsut started to get back into it once I heard that sub-sites will be featured on the site.

Check out charts, everyone, as this'll tell you what I've checked and decided to keep. Any discrepancies, feel free to let me know.

Also, I'm on Chapter 3-3 for Paper Mario ATM...

edit: Four mini-games in the game:
Hopefully before I return the game I can evaluate them...

1. Forget Me Not
2. Mansion Patrol
3. Tilt Island
4. Hammer Whacker
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 15, 2007, 04:18:31 pm
Super Paper Mario's mini-games are surprisingly competitive...

I only checked out Tilt Island and Mansion Patrol (very competitive IMO). Still gotta check out Forget Me Not and Hammer Whacker is unlockable somehow...

I currently just beat 5-4 and trying to find the Heart Pillar to start Chapter 6. :)

Also, SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (GBA) mini-games: I've been evaluating them and it seems like some are surprisingly competitive. There are 30 in all and I've only tried up to #17 (you need to purchase them and it's not an esay task). Will divulge details...

Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 15, 2007, 04:46:47 pm
Thanks for your help, sonicam. Any games under the proximity category won't be added. The categories will be changed for easy conversion.

Final Notes to add when site becomes established:
Mario Party: Whack-a-Plant will not be added.
Proximity games won't be added.

Final two charts will appear shortly. Otherwise, we're ready to go up! :D

edit:
Rules to be added to Rules chart:
-SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (GBA):
*Stats must be made in the Bikini Booty mode on any difficulty. You are allowed to use the 100% Completion password.
*The time you submit is not the time remaining on the timer. The time you submit is Start Time - Time Remaining. (Somewhat copied rule from TUSC. Hope they don't mind as I'm using the same setting.)
-Super Paper Mario:
Stats must be made at the underground Arcade in Flipside B1.

I repeat, we're all set! Any other minor ironning out that eneds to be done will be done when the site is established. :D

FTR, Final name: Mini-Game Center

edit: SpongeBob Divisions updated again.

Other Potential Additions for when the site becomes established will be listed here:

edit:
Mario Power Tennis
->8 Mini-games in total: Following could be added:
*Artist on the Court (5 Stages - Mario, Luigi, Diddy Kong, Bowser and Boswer Jr. and Yoshi's)
*Terror Tennis (Only the Challenge Mission)
*Gooper Blooper Volley (Only the Challenge Mission)
*Tic Tac Glow (Only the Challenge Mission)
*Balloon Panic (Only the Challenge Mission)
*Mecha-Bowser Mayhem (3 Stages - Aluminum/Iron/Titanium Frame)
*Coin Collectors (Only Challenge Mission)

Crash Bandicoot Purple
->A lot of Bonus Games; will have to test...
Spyro Orange
->Maybe exact same as Crash Purple... unsure..

:Generally pointless mini-games IMO... anyways, MG's aren't competitive but the ones that seemingly have potential are just button-mashers...

And yes, I repeat, we are ready to get going...

edit:
More ideas:
Happy Feet (Only the Race/checkpoint and Swimming stages)
DK Country 2 and 3 (GBA)

New Ideas for Potential Additions:

1. Donkey Kong 64
 *Quite competitive games, but there is this: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Shadowlands/8373//dk64rankings.html Should I still add the game? Opinions and thoughts please?

2. Madagascar (Going to re-evaluate; gotta check a few potentially competitive games)
 *MG’s:
Tiki Minigolf
Lemur Rave
Shuffleboard

3. SpongeBob: Creature from the Krusty Krab
 *Know nothing about the mini-games

4. Cars
*Know nothing about the mini-games

5. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (GC/Xbox/PS2/Wii)
*Know little about the mini-games

6. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
 *MG’s (Pianta Parlor):
Plane Game
Paper Game
Tube Game
Boat Game

7. Open Season? (Wild Challenges Mode)
 *MG’s:
Rabbits Everywhere!
Log Challenge!
Flowers for my deer
Shake that Butt!
Duck Chorus
Rise, Rise to the top!
Wild Memory
 (Don’t know about how any of these work as I’ve never played it)

Also, currently constructing Happy Feet charts. May construct others of the games listed above if I decide to add them.

New charts seen below.
Charts remaining: Madagascar, Shuffle.

New rulings:
DK64:
*Stats for DK Arcade can be made in Adventure Mode or in the Mystery Mode. Stats for all other divisions must be made in Mystery Mode.
*If your high score for the Jetpac game is/has been subjected to the infamous glitch, your submission will be void. The stat you have to submit is your score that has been unaffected by the glitch.

Madagascar:
*No additional rules.

Paper Mario: TYD:
*Stats must be made at the Pianta Parlor in Rougeport.

SatSR:
*You are not allowed to use the Gamecube controller for any of the divisions unless otherwise stated.

edit: DK64 chart updated.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC

New Rulings:

Madagascar:
*Stats for the Arcade Games (and other special scored missions) must be made in the corresponding stage it was found in. Stats for Armor Madness, Super Space Blastoid, Wobble Bird Air Force must be made in the "King of New York", "Marty's Escape", and "New York Street Chase" stages, respectively. The special scored missions - Defeat the Moles and Get the Fruit???  - can be found in "Coming of Age" and "Marty to the Rescue" stages respectively.
*Stats for the Lemur Rave stages must be made with Difficulty set on Normal and the Style also set to Normal.

The Bible Game:
*Stats can be made in either TV Game Show or Challenge Games mode.
*The Mini-Game Difficulty setting in the Options Menu must always be set to Hard for your submission to count. Submissions made on the Easy Difficulty will void your submission.

Shuffle:
*ALL submissions must be made with Computers on a Normal Difficulty. If on Easy or Hard, or if you play with another human player, your submission will not count.
*Submissions for Stage Rings can be done in either Story or Versus Mode. However, in Story Mode, Rings collected in the Final Mini-Game do not count towards your final score.
*Getting a Forcejewel does not earn you extra rings.
*Ring records for mini-games are to be taken using the total given at the Results Screen in the Toy Box. Story and Versus mode submissions are acceptable, as long as they account for the extra 10 rings that are given in the Toy Box.
*Ring records for Board Clear Mini-Games can only be taken from Toy Box.
*When competing in Time Divisions, it is the number of seconds left on the timer when you complete the game that you submit.
*No 'auto controllers' are allowed for any of the divisions.
*When competing in “Team” Mini-Games, the submission will not count if you get knocked out.

Whoa.. SatSR Division Charts downloaded over 150 times...
Is that accurate?

If so, you guys must REALLY want the Party Games to be added as much as I do...

It's kinda funny because that's the only division chart that's been downloaded over the past couple of posts. Everything else is 0 and then I see 170-something... that's just... yeah..

edit:
Anyway, list of all games that will be added (games I've done charts for and they're all set and ready to go) once the site comes up are as follows: (placed in the order I want to add them)

Rayman Raving Rabbids
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Super Paper Mario
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Fuzion Frenzy
Sonic Shuffle
Mairo Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Madagascar
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS!
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Power Tennis
Barnyard
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
DK64
The Bible Game
Happy Feet

And yeah, I'm still waiting for Rolken...

Did you read this (http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=2228.0)?

Particularly:

Quote
You or a team need to know the games well enough to be able to evaluate their competition in every detail, or else you might as well leave it to CS to wander blindly through.
and
Quote
Sites on single games or entire genres I would particularly discourage.

Ultimately you have no outside interest and a huge scope, and I can't see it getting far beyond what Cyberscore is doing now. Which brings me to:

Quote
Unlike most other endeavours, if you lose interest in maintaining the site after a year or two and nobody has the experience to pick it up afterwards, you spoil the fun of a whole bunch of people.

Also you have nine consecutive posts in this topic wtf. That should be a decent gauge of either a lack of interest or spam. (In this case I can see elements of both.)

First, yeah I read the topic. (Very first thing I read)

Second, you're right about those other games which is why I've scrapped the ideas for games I know little or nothing about. Only games I am very/quite familiar will be added. That being said, all the games on the list above is the final list ATM.

Marth and others have agreed (?) to help me on the Mario Parties I don't have so they can help me more regarding competition issues. Otherwise, I know everything about the game's listed above. I can tell you right now actually, re: each of the games...

Rayman Raving Rabbids - Have the game; strong familiarity
Sonic and the Secret Rings - Rented the game; strong familiarity with all games
Super Paper Mario - Rented the game; strong familiarity with all games
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - HAD the game; familiarity with all games
Fuzion Frenzy - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Sonic Shuffle - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Mairo Party 7 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Mario Party 6 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Mario Party 1 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Madagascar - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Super Mario 64 DS - Played the game and pretty much all mini-games; fair familiarity with all games
New Super Mario Bros. - Played the game; not that big of familiarity with all games but most are re-dubs from SM64DS and besides both this and SM64DS should have other people contributing and helping me establish this area
Mario Power Tennis - Borrowed the game; strong familiarity with all games
Barnyard - Rented the game; strong familiarity with all games
Mario Party 2 - Borrowed the game; strong familiarity with all games
Mario Party 3 - Borrowed the game; fair familiarity with all games
Mario Party 4 - Rented the game; fair familiarity with all games
Mario Party 5 - Rented the game; fair familiarity with all games
Donkey Kong Country 2 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Donkey Kong Country 3 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
DK64 - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
The Bible Game - Have the game; strong familiarity with all games
Happy Feet - Have the game (not mine, thankfully); strong familiarity with all games

The list is organized based on the order I'll be adding the games. The games are listed the way they are based on popularity, (potential) interest, and competition potential.

That's why I scrapped the others like Ice Age 2, Superstar Baseball, Fuzion Frenzy 2 and many others. They were ideas that could be added if people had information on any of those games. They were also in case I was to try one of the games sometime so I could evaluate them to see if they're worthy of being on the site.

Don't worry, I've thought about this carefully. I've been having a bit of trouble but I think I'm doing fairly well as I've never done this before and I'm not really getting a lot of help. But that's okay cause I have a strong familiarity with most of the games as you can see, with a few exceptions.

And I was aware of what Rolken stated (the quotes you referred to) and I'm doing my best but not many are replying. The ones that do show up look around a bit and poke at the attachments but nevertheless, I still feel I should be granted adminship because I've come this far and I've been trying really hard till now. If things don't work, well, we'll see but I can never know if I don't at least try. I mentioned a long time ago that I wanted to test it out but noone replied. So I just proceeded onwards. I figured people would start replying when I'm like near to completion. >_>

Rayman seems to be the most popular in this topic, next to SatSR which is why I developed the above list to list which ones I will add and which order I will begin to add them. They are mostly based on popularity and the competition potential.

But anyway, I still feel I should be granted adminship. If you have any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it but otherwise, I feel pretty confident.

I repeat again, all games that I (or anyone else) knows little to nothing about will not be added including the ones you mentioned which I further explained above.

And RPG, yeah, I figured there was something "buggy" about that and my MVDK chart in the Mario Center... :P

edit:
Also, for the record, Rolken said it is okay if I could add SatSR and Shuffle! :o Shuffle, FTW! :o

The only thing I agreed to do was play MP6.

But I guess I can help out with stuff. Like checking on a mini-game, or whatever.
I think I have all of the mini-games unlocked in everything. MP2, definitely.

Yeah, wasn't really sure if you signed yourself up for it or not which is why I had a (?) after the statement.
Regardless, I'd appreciate it if you could. Even if you'd just help on one game, that would help me because although I know everything about the games, there needs to be someone else who is as well.

I still feel adminship should be granted to me which is why I am still patiently waiting for it to happen as I am now a master at patience (see: Competition Suggestions) - it's something I now add to resume.

I just can't see there being more than five players on any of the games you've picked. That's where I'm coming from.

Uh... did you even LOOK at the top games on the list...

And anyway, that's never stopped you guys from adding other games if they were competitive enough. I still fail to see the ''reasoning'', as that seems to be a major reason why you won't allow me to press forward.

edit: Any other suggestions for why you'd not allow me to continue would be appreciated I guess. What's more pressing for me, though, is, I'd like to know which games on the list do you feel should not be added and explain why not. Then THAT would help me see where you're coming from.

How many people do you think own Happy Feet I mean srsly.

As is my understanding a lot of those games don't save records either, which as far as I'm concerned is unacceptable in this day and age.

And then there's the fact that minigames, by their very nature, are not good candidates for competition anyway. Many of them are open to exploitation of dummy players or easily maxable (honourable mention goes to DK64 here for being neither of the above and still awesome), one of which is hard to prove against and the other not worth proving.

Add to the fact that you specifically went against the subsite guidelines, and that's why I say this shouldn't go ahead.

Thank you for finally clearing that up! That REALLY helps me.

First off, you're right about Happy Feet wihch is why I placed it was last on the list but you know what, I'm not gonna bother anymore.

Second, I'll tell you which ones keep records and which ones don't to clear up things:

Rayman Raving Rabbids (Y)
Sonic and the Secret Rings (Y)
Super Paper Mario (Y)
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Y)
Fuzion Frenzy (N)
Sonic Shuffle (N)
Mairo Party 7 (Y)
Mario Party 6 (Y)
Mario Party 1 (Y)
Madagascar (Y)
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! (Y)
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA (N)
Super Mario 64 DS (Y)
New Super Mario Bros.??  (Y)
Mario Power Tennis??  (Y)
Barnyard (Y - in Story Mode)
Mario Party 2 (Y)

Mario Party 5 (Y)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (Y)
Donkey Kong Country 3 (Y)
DK64 (Y)
The Bible Game (Y)
Happy Feet (Yes, if it was going to be added)

mike, majority ARE recorded... Like I said, I've thought about this as well.

Regarding the ones for candidates for competition, I've evaluated almost all games.

I'm going to re-evaluate all games I can right now on the charts to see if they're worthwhile...
(BTW, are you for or against DK64? I got a little confused with you calling it an "honourable mention")

______________________________________________________________

****
EDITED (Re-looked at all charts with a changed perspective):
****

Checklist:
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Verdict: All on list are EXCELLENT competition candidates. I was thinking of adding Bunnies Can't Jump - Part 2 back but I've now decided not to (despite the fact that a few days ago I finally got 1000/1000 for that game...) Best for competition no doubt.

Sonic and the Secret Rings
Verdict: Removing: FINAL X ADVENTURE (if people want it back, I'll add it; is there a max of 40? If not, then we can proceed with it); Whack! Giant Stakes/Whack! Hatchet (somewhat-easily maxable; both me and friend go 24 on Giant Stakes; 25 was my best for Hatchet), Row! Canoe Salvage/Shine on! Kri Ma Djinn/Sink em! Pirate Ship (pretty low scores: Salvage - 18; Shine - 16; Pirate Ship - 15), Seek! Edge Race (max: 0:34 - my best; second best was 0:35 which I got like so many times.)

Super Paper Mario
Verdict: Yep. Everything's okay. I've decided to remove "Forget Me Not" though.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Verdict: Fine.

Fuzion Frenzy
Verdict: Removing: Bumper Race, Roller Ruckus (somewhat-easily maxable), Water Gate Scramble (no sense in having one game for times especially when it's not extremely competitive as the others...), Erodeo (forgot game ends once you or COM's fall off)

Sonic Shuffle
Verdict: Not adding: Sonic Slot, Sonic the Thief anymore. Sorry Thorn. :P Everything else is fine.

Mario Party 7
Verdict: Removing: Royal Rumpus, Real Smoothie, Helipopper, Gimme a Brake/Clock Watchers (Proximity games are all being removed)

Mario Party 6
Verdict: Boonanza!, Dunk Bros (all), Lunar-tics (Proximity games are all being removed)

Mario Party 1
Verdict: Removing: Whack-a-Plant (already discussed), Face Lift, and Crazy Cutters

Madagascar
Verdict: Two challenges will be removed and won't be added.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GC/Xbox/PS2
Verdict: Removing, will not add - Flippin' Out (record still recorded if you play with a human player), Machine Meltdown, Rubble Rabble (both Easy and Hard; record still recorded if you play with a human player),?  The Bouncers, Blisterin' Barnacles (170 max but it's difficult to obtain; still to avoid disputes...) Flingin' & Swingin' (1000 max but it's hard to attain. I've gotten it, ftr)

SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GBA
Verdict: Removing game period. Only a couple of competitive games of the ones on chart that would be really competitive.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA
Verdict: Fine. (Was debating if I should add or not... It's fairly low on the list so I got time to think.)

Super Mario 64 DS
Verdict: Everything's fine.

New Super Mario Bros.
Verdict: Everything's fine.

Mario Power Tennis
Verdict: Fine.

Barnyard
Verdict: Not adding: Barnyard Darts, Classic and Barnyard Pool (thought I removed these), Chasing Chicks (both),?
Most Competitive Game, ftr: Gopher Golf

Mario Party 2
Verdict: Face Lift, Crazy Cutters, Tim Bomb (Proximity games are all being removed)

Mario Party 3
Verdict: Fine.

Mario Party 4
Verdict: Not adding: Trace Race (same as Crazy Cutters, the rule I'm going against anyway), Darts of Doom, Manta Rings, Three Throw, Butterfly Blitz

Mario Party 5
Verdict: Dinger Derby won't be added.

Donkey Kong Country 2
Verdict: Fine.

Donkey Kong Country 3
Verdict: Removing entire game... Sorry DK.

DK64
Verdict: Seems fine. Mike, got something to add? Maybe remove Jetpac?

The Bible Game
Verdict: Fine.

Happy Feet - >_<

So, mike, Rolken, did that clear up everything. Mike, I thank you very much for your help. It's really assisted me... I think I'm really ready now.

Er... I should've pointed out something else earlier :x

I used to compete in Mario Party over at N64 High Scores and the differences between PAL and NTSC times are quite blatant - this also applies to Parties 2 and 3. Any games before the GC/PS2/Xbox era could have this issue too - just be aware of it.

I don't think anyone is going to compete in Spongebob Squarepants, seriously. That's pretty degrading to TSC.

"New Champion: sonicam is now champion of Spongebob Squarepants! Congratulations!!" o_o

The main problem with a lot of those games is that no one would play them, and if they do, by some weird reason have them, they don't play them for competition. They probably only play them for fun, or if they enjoyed the movie/series, or what ever. I'm almost positive you won't have more than 2 players (including you) for Spongebob, Barnyard, etc.

Lol. I see where you're coming from. In that case, then... a revised list, once again:

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Sonic and the Secret Rings

Super Paper Mario

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Fuzion Frenzy

Sonic Shuffle

Mario Party 7

Mario Party 6

Mario Party 1

Madagascar

SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GC/Xbox/PS2 (Was a tough decision..)

SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GBA

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA

Super Mario 64 DS

New Super Mario Bros.

Mario Power Tennis

Barnyard

Mario Party 2

Mario Party 3

Mario Party 4

Mario Party 5

Donkey Kong Country 2

DK64

The Bible Game

:If people want the striked-through games later, and there's demand, then I'll add them. Otherwise...
But I STILL would like adminship as there will be no more revisions to the list with the exception of DK64 or something.

I'm dying to add Rayman...
I want to add Rayman way more than Shuffle now...

Please, adminship...

I doubt the potential for this concept to succeed. Demonstrate that there are people who want to compete, either by asking people in other communities or getting people to show up here and say they want to compete or somesuch; there doesn't seem to be much interest from TSC folk.

It's possible. There's a lot of considerations, as you're violating almost every guideline I gave; you're doing it on your own, you don't have much general support, you're doing a genre-wide concept, you may be treading on EliteScores' ground, you don't know the games very well, there's no competition viability established for most of them, there's no plans for the site appearance or community, and you're not really dedicated to it specifically. The more of those questions you're able to resolve, the better your chances will be. Cutting off the worst of the game list is a start, but it's not enough.

(1) I tried avoiding that approach and was rejected so whatever... And recall that I did suggest other things too but everything was rejected as well... (sigh)
(2) I can't believe you guys still think I'm ignorant. ALL THE GAMES ON THE LIST I HAVE STRONG FAMILIARITY WITH. Geez. What part of that whole phrase do any of you NOT comprehend?
(3) I have tried doing things for the so-called community/site appearance but it's been kinda hard since I don't even have adminship (I know I'm supposed to do it before but it's kinda hard when I don't have many helpers...). Also, even before I came to TSC, some of the games on the list (and Blinx especially) had people who had the notion of competing for records.
(4) How am I not dedicated to it...?! I've eben wanting to do this for more than a year!

I just think you guys don't want me to establish this sub-site at all since it's supposedly going to "downgrade TSC". Well, whatever. Then just say that instead of coming up with all these lame comments that make clear to me that you're more considered about the site image than anything else.

I can't rely on TSC, obviously, to fulfill ANY of my wishes. I mean, c'mon. Not even Megaman Center was harassed this much. There may have been details, yaddyaddayadda, whatever, but that's besides the point.

I'm just getting really fed up. I've been wanting to do this for the longest time and I evne created a site to do so but I couldn't get the interest past friends and family.

I highly doubt you guys would want to see my Elebits/Blinx/Hatcher, whatever you wanna call them (probably wouldn't call them centers but whatever) up either since it will supposedly 'destroy the image of TSC'. I'm not putting myself through all of this when I'm never going to even attain adminship anyway.

Here's what I TRIED to send out there, not like any of you actually give anyway:
"I'm thinking of adding (insert game name here) divisions for competition for Best Records over on TSC (www.soniccenter.org) by way of a sub-site. Would anyone be interested in competing for high-scores with other users there?

If so, please sign here so I can prove to the administrators that there is interest for this game to be added and for my sub-site to become established.

The thread can be found here (check the last page for the final list of all games that have been chosen to be added): http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=2247.0

If you are interested, other games (some may not be added unless interest is shown) where there are instances of competition-potential via mini-games are:

Rayman Raving Rabbids (Definitely will be added)
Sonic and the Secret Rings (Will be added)
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Fuzion Frenzy
Sonic Shuffle
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Madagascar
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GC/Xbox/PS2
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! - GBA
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Power Tennis
Barnyard
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Donkey Kong Country 2
DK64
The Bible Game
Happy Feet

If you are interested in (insert game name here) records, please sign here. For further questions, refer to the thread. If you are interested in competing for records on ANY other games on the list, PLEASE indicate which ones so I can show this to the administrators and we can get rolling for competition. Thank you."

Just seeing the words "it's possible" after having to do so much already and been waiting so long just to have my wishes realized, it's not worth all the trouble if in the end, you're just going to shoot me down even more.

And with that, I'll be banned but whatever. I won't be like Groudon and run away (had to insert SOME humor in here I guess...). I'm standing my ground.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC

This is nonsense; the details are -entirely- the point. You're just whining because I won't give you what you want and let you see for yourself that it doesn't work.

Re: your points. You intend to make like five different sites; that by definition pretty much means you're not dedicated to any one of them. You say you have strong familiarity, but earlier you were saying you didn't know some of the games really at all. And you can't complain that you don't have helpers, because that was one of the things I cited that you should have when starting a site - it's yet another problem, not an excuse.

Ultimately, I'm only here to help you insofar as what you intend to do is productive in the broader gaming competition community. So far you have not done very well to present that case, and throwing a tantrum and getting dramatic when I note problems in your setup that are pretty universally recognized just makes you seem immature to boot. The majority of sites never manage to achieve popularity, and that is critical for a competition site. If you don't have any interest in demonstrating that you can surmount those odds, I don't have any interest in helping you fail.

So bottom line, I don't think you can hack it as an admin. Call back if/when you're ready to prove that you can.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on April 30, 2007, 04:53:18 pm
You're right about the tantrum and I apologize. I just REALLY needed to blow off some steam..

And how ironic was that (Re: your first sentence)? XD

Anyway, just please do not site those other examples (of games I didn't know), PLEASE. Those were SUGGESTIONS if anyone else had the game. And you fail to realize I have a strong familiarity with all the other games but anyway...

What you say has a lot of truth to it (although the fact about "five different sites", I could easily get upset over that but I'm already in deep water as it is) and although I do feel capable as an admin (not like any other of my centers - other than Blinx - stands a chance since I'm stuck in the dirt with those), the popularity issue DOES need to be addressed. Which is why I've decided to stick this through and concentrate on getting names to show that there is interest.

I would like to start here. Anyone here would be actually interested in competing in ANY of the games listed on the final list at all, please post and let me know.

NAMES LIST:
TSC:
*ks8
*Marth

Other Communities:

Support for Other Centers:
*That being Blinx and Elebits.

Thanks Rolken. And I'm sorry. Like I said, I just really need to blow some steam. I've come this far, and "whining" and getting frustrated isn't going to help me. I may as well stick it through as I have a small chance of actually getting this up and running which pleases me greatly.

Restating for convenience: I have Mario Parties 1, 2, 3, and 6, and Sonic Shuffle.
I can borrow Mario Party 5. I support MP6, and maybe/probably the other Mario Parties
(especially 2). Not sure about Sonic Shuffle.

Other: I have Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Donkey Kong Country 2,
Donkey Kong 64, and Mario Power Tennis. I'll probably submit a few DK64 scores,
and maybe DKC2.

The only games I would play is Mario Party, but then again, I don't want to hate it since I do play that on occasion with friends, so I dunno...

Another problem is that it's really only YOU that want the MGC. Only you and Marth are really showing interest. Many of these games won't be competed in at all, I can assure you. I know it's difficult to gather members, but if you want it to work you have to. Even people just from TSC probably won't be enough. I'm having that problem with TMMC, it's only us four. but I'm going to try branching out and maybe form affiliations. You should do that too with dedicated Mario fans (and SpongeBob if you are dead serious about adding that game). I think I might speak for all of TSC, as concurring with saying that the main reasons for being skeptical and hesitant about adding MGC is the all around games (no core game), no one really interested accept yourself, TSC degradation. I think I can guareentee that SpongeBob and The Bible Game will NEVER be hosted at TSC. Please revise the list again, and find more dedicated/ decent people. Many people from GameFAQs really don't fit that description at all. :/
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on May 05, 2007, 05:58:27 pm
Yeah, I gave up on TSC a while ago. And if I can't turn to GFAQS, then...
(Sigh)

Well anyway, I removed all SpongeBob games except Lights, Camera, Pants and I was only keeping it since it sthad quite a bit of competition potential but if people think it's going to damage TSC's rep then I won't add it. I thought I removed the Bible Game but I guess you saw the list I sent to people over on GFAQS that listed it. But anyway, it's gone so don't worry about that.

And yeah, of course it's only ME, I've been planning this for a while. And I already mentioned the fact that it will supposedly "destroy TSC's reputation" a while back so don't remind me...

Look, all I REALLY care about are the games towards the top of the list!

Rayman Raving Rabbids
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Super Paper Mario
Fuzion Frenzy
Sonic Shuffle
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
And I'm adding Mario Party 8 as well.

I mostly want to BADLY add Rayman and Shuffle and the Mario Party games (and maybe Fuzion). If I had to scrap everything else, then I'd have no problem with that, honestly! Only the above games I really care about.

Rayman I'm sure will have people as it's sold so many copies and it's appealed to such a wide audience and the game is VERY competitive. Have you seen the online forums? A lot of people compete regularly unofficially, without ranking tables. Just in thread forms. I REALLY would feel that I should add Rayman if anything else.

But I mean it, only Rayman, Shuffle, SatSR (I thought people wanted to compete in this?), Mario Party games (plus Super Paper Mario) and Fuzion Frenzy are the only games I REALLY care about.

If GFAQS won't count to you guys then I'll have to head to other communities to prove to you that Rayman has a large audience and forums are abundant. For Mario Party, I don't know how I could prove that but think about it... How many have at least one Mario Party that they think they're really good at, especially with the upcoming Wii release, it DEFINITELY deserves to be added. Re: Shuffle and SatSR, I know Thorn may still want Shuffle but noone's ever expressed (other than me) that they want SatSR divisions to be added which is why Rolken probably hasn't added them (going out on a limb here as opposed to imputing negative qualities like others do, *cough cough*).

But anyway, I'll be back once again with support for Rayman I guess. Anything else you guys want me to do?

sonicam, just for you the final list HAS been done already but here it is:
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Fuzion Frenzy
Sonic Shuffle
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Power Tennis
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
WarioWare Games <- Will be added at the very end.

(Removed DK64, barnyard, SLCP and DKC2)
All games I removed, I'll have a request thread asking if anyone wants the games to be added and if enough people sign and show interest, THEN I'll be motivated to add them but otherwise, there's the list.

And sonicam, if I have to run the whole site by myself, I will. I was already expecting that when I started this idea way back when - same with Blinx.

It wouldn't be cumbersome to do, really. I'd probably find a bit of enjoyment in managing the site and I can guarantee that Rayman will be the highlight of my center.

I bid all of you adieu until I return showing you all support for adding them.

Update:
Anyone else have any other ideas of how I can reach people to prove that there is interest for the top games?

Rayman has general support on every end so I'm not worried on that - more so with Mario Party: I KNOW people want it, but how I can prove that, I dunno...

Why don't I launch the site as a TEST (mentioned this before), doing 3 of the top games and then we'll see what happens? I'm really between a rock and a hard place... again.

I mean there's Rayman, Super Paper Mario, SatSR, and the Mario Party games. Rayman in particular could stand really well on its own.

And I don't think personal opinions of "the lack of players" there may be should stop me.. I mean, look at TMMC. The most players they have for a game right now is 4. [http://megaman.soniccenter.org/rankings/champions] I just still fail to see the rationale behind that... Then again, it's probably just me ranting.

Not that its really up to me to make the decision, but my impression from everyone elses posts is that they want proof that you have a fanbase, giving you a "test" subsite would be exactly the same as just launching the subsite in the first place, so I somehow doubt youll get that

Okay, new approach to see if I can satisfy what I'm asked of here:

Will give you links to game sites that relate to any of the games on the list. Maybe that'll suffice.

Sonic and the Secret Rings
Super Mario 64 DS
Mario Party 4
WarioWare Games <- Will be added at the very end.

I have these game and would submit. It would be kind of cool for Wario Ware games to be up as they do have a lot of competition on Cyberscore (and that's just Cyberscore :P). I have Twisted and want Touched.

I was JUST about to say that I've decided to re-add WarioWare games to the list! That's funny...

Anyway, look, I fail to see how you guys still don't believe that the major games on the list (e.g, Mario Party, Rayman, WarioWare, etc) don't have a fanbase.... It just doesn't make sense to me as it's obvious that there is. Again, I'm subtlely referring to Megaman center when I say this.

Well speaking personally, I honestly dont see why anyone would WANT to play mini games on a competitive level :/

Playing them all once was bad enough, Id probably hang myself if I played them again, I couldnt stand Mario Party 4 or Shuffle after I beat two boards of each, there all either a) too short b) too simple c) just plain annoying /:
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on May 17, 2007, 03:31:22 pm
And that's my point: it's mostly based on personal opinion that you guys are rejecting me and that doesn't seem very fair. Some really do WANT to play competitively in mini-games. Case in point, Rayman (which I still play on a regular basis, sitll triyng to improve my scores), WarioWare, and Super Paper Mario.

This is another reason why I fail to see the logic behind my idea being rejected and me having to "prove" that there is a fanbase when it is clear that there already is for most if not all the games...

This is another reason why I fail to see the logic behind my idea being rejected and me having to "prove" that there is a fanbase when it is clear that there already is for most if not all the games...

I see where your coming from, I really do but saying "there are fanbases" isnt really enough :x

Sega Rally has a fanbase but Ill be damned if I could find it and make a site about it, as much as I <3 the game bits

Which is why folk want you to prove it by getting names and such to prove to them that theres actual competitive merit behind your idea.

2/3 people filling out a game chart and then 1 or 2 others submitting a handful of stats isnt really worth anything at all
Title: Re: PGC/MGC

And even then, my idea will probably be rejected...
But, okay, I'll go along with it. XD

Oh and whatever you may see for fanbases below, I am still adding ALL the games on that list.

And I won't be adding Cyberscore anywhere below either.

"Fanbases":
Mario Party series:
1. http://www.marioparty.de/

Rayman:
1. Rayman Zone (Forums)
2. http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/rayman_fans/

WarioWare series:
1. http://www.ww-smoothmoves.com
2. http://warioware.us/

Miscellaneous:
-Super Paper Mario can't really be "proven" other than GFAQS since there is no competition for it on a site other than on random forum topics.

It still would be great to add Monkey Ball Banana Blitz divisions...

By fanbase I meant, like, asking people at communities if they'd compete and getting them to sign there name here, not just linking somewhere :/

If someone cant be bothered to sign up to a site (which theyd have to in the first place if this is to go ahead) and sign a topic saying there interested it simply wouldnt count as interest IMO

Hypothetically of course

That is so off from how I interpretated "fanbase" but anyway...

I DID try to ask if people would compete and that was rejected, remember? I did my ebst. I mean, I'm not going to sign up on a bunch of communities JUST for the sake of asking them to sign something-like a petition just for the sake of getting rejected...

This is all so up in the clouds...

Thats basically what I was getting at with my last post, not being bothered enough!=interest.

Though obviously thats marginally different to what I was referring to

Still it ain't that hard, Thorn and I both signed up to a few places and got no folk from there anyway to my knowledge <_<

^ I've always been even before I came to TSC but if you mean at TSC, then no not really.

RPG, for sake of emphasis and repetition, here's what I TRIED to do over on GFAQS before:

Rayman: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=932877&topic=35047060
Super Paper Mario: Got knocked off the board but people DID sign and it's clear that others comepte for Arcade records; it's just hard to keep them running with all the topics in that board and all - which is why it would make sense to add them
Elebits: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=933005&topic=35048577
Blinx: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=561518&topic=35048502
Mario Party: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=935598&topic=35048632

Supposedly, that wasn't good enough...

WarioWare Smooth Moves divisions:

Wario
Mona
Jimmy T.
Young Cricket
Kat and Ana
Timmy P.
Ashley
Dribble and Spitz
Penny
9-Volt and 18-Volt
Tiny Wario
Orbulon
Dr. Crygor
All Mixed Up
Super Hard
Sudden Death
Thrilling
Tower Tennis
Block Star
Can Shooter
Balloon Trip
Tortoise and Hare
Pyoro S

* I was wondering if we should add Bungie Buddies or not… Thoughts?

Also, who has this game and would be interested in participating.

Note on "fanbase" stuff:
I'm creating a poll here on TSC. I want to see how it turns out.

edit: You can just imagine my EXTREME satisfaction and happiness upon hearning that Rayman Raving Rabbids is earning itself a sequel! Not only that, it's coming out here in the Fall!! Sweet! Now if only Sonic would earn itself a new party game...

Anyway, RRR2 will be added on the sub-site as well, obviously, but not until it comes out or I'm granted adminship, whichever comes first.

edit: Personally, I see the entire WarioWare series as being enough merit for me to add the sub-site for many reasons. With all the support behind it, the sub-site would be able to hold itself up, especially with games like Rayman and Mario Party.

Also, I'm thinking of removing Paper Mario: TYD. It just seems a bit.. well it just doesn't seem to fit as much as the others (in fact, SPM fits more into the mix than TYD, IMO).

I'm also contemplating name change... If anyone has any ideas, I'd be happy to recieve them.

As far as I'm concerned, Mario Party series, WarioWare series and maybe the two Sonic games have enough merit for the sub-site to be considered for launch. The WarioWare series ALONE has undoubted merit and competition potential and it could easily pass as its own center. These three suffice in showing that there is merit to this sub-site and it should be granted launch or it should at least be considered.

Also, it should be noted that I plan on having a suggestion thread. I'm currently contemplating adding the Touch Generation games, that being Big Brain Academy.

I dont disrespect him I just dont think this is a good idea for a center

Heh. Nice.

Well I AM back now.. surprisingly. Parental controls have blocked me for the longest time but... yeah the effort I had to put forth to get here was worth it. Seeing a new Riders game ALONE was worth the effort!

Look, I know you may not LIKE my idea but that's not the point: I WANT to do this and I've had for (as I mentioned before) a couple years, before I even came here.

I've been thinking about all this for quite some time so it's time I finally posted my thoughts and my progress as I haven't given up on this and I probably won't. I'm devoted to seeing this go up as I have been. The site has been blocked for me, disabling me from entering it b/c of p-controls, that's all. Otherwise, I would've been way more regular in posting updates and more regular on the site period.

First off, I didn't want to revive my suggestions topic for no apparently "good" reason so I'll say it here:
Mario Strikers Charged has amazing potential but I know it'll be argued that it's only a single game. Then I thought of a general Wi-Fi sub-site for Wii Games but for that the focus wouldn't be "clear" (I think I finally get it, and I've had it all along xD). So I just thought I'd bring it up. And yes, I do have it and it IS amazing. Does anyone here have it? I'm going to make a topic because I'd really like to face someone. :D

But anyway, I'm digressing. Getting to my real post:
I think I finally understand what was said about me needing a "clear focus". Thus, I've re-examined the list carefully and it's finalized to be, NOT the Mini-Game Center, but the sub-site will focus specifically on Party Games. As a result, some games were eliminated, yet again. Here are all the games that've been removed (over time and recently):

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Madagascar
SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS!
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie – GBA
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Power Tennis
Donkey Kong Country 2
Donkey Kong Country 3
DK64
Fuzion Frenzy 2
The Bible Game
Happy Feet
Barnyard
Super Paper Mario

Re:
/ SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants! and Barnyard: /
Although they ARE indeed of the Party genre, it was claimed that there isn't much potential here in terms of competition and that's what it's really all about so I've removed them. As mentioned, I will have a thread that discusses past ideas and if enough ask for it, then I'll add it.

< The following games I wasn't sure about but will be removed anyway: >
Super Mario 64 DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Super Paper Mario

These games are not part of the Party genre, yet, they feature a variety of competitive games. It's been kind of hard to reach a final verdict but to keep in check with this CLEAR focus, I've decided to remove them.

Also, I WOULD add WarioWare: Touched but have absolutely no familiarity with it whatsoever.

* FINAL GAMES LIST: *
Mario Party
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 8
Mario Party Advance
Fuzion Frenzy
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Sonic Shuffle
Sonic and the Secret Rings
WarioWare: MegaPartyGame$
WarioWare: MegaMicroGame$
WarioWare: Twisted
WarioWare: Smooth Moves

< In terms of priority: >
Rayman Raving Rabbids - has the most divisions of all the games; requires the most work on my part.
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic Shuffle
Mario Party 8
WarioWare Smooth Moves
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Mario Party 2
Mario Party Advance
All other WarioWare games
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 5
Fuzion Frenzy

Additionally, I've looked over the Shuffle divisions (as it has been a LONG time...) and I've finalized them after removing select divisions.

RINGS
Sonic Gun Slinger
Sonic Live
Psychic Sonic
Sonic Tag
Shadow Tag
Frosty Rumble
Fun Fun Sonic
Thor's Hammer
Bucket-O-Rings
Bungee Jump - Single Player
Bungee Jump - Team
Manic Maze - Team
Sonicooking - Single Player
Sonicooking - Team
Sonic DJ - Single Player
Sonic DJ - Team
Sonic Parasol
Ring Tide
Rapid Climb
Sky Bridge
Ring of Fire
Ring Lasso
Final Frontier
Sky Diving
Sonic Surfing
Earth Quake
Void Battle
Twister
Over the Bridge
Total

TIMES
Stop and Go
Great Escape
Sonic Tank
Wrong Way Climb - Team
Manic Maze - Single Player
Gargantua - Single Player
Gargantua - Team
Eggbot's Attack - Single Player
Croc-Attack
Number Jump
Total

If you're interested, here's what I removed:
- RINGS for Stages in Story/Versus
- One team division for Rings (Manic Maze) that was probably a mistake in the first place
- Again, two more mistakes (I believe) for Times this time:
-> Wrong Way Climb/Single Player
-> Eggbot's Attack/Team
- Sonic Slot and Sonic the Thief (I was just going to remove Sonic Slot but then what would be the point in having one division for Scores when the scores for it aren't even that high in the first place, so I just removed them both; besides, other Mario Party mini-games that also featured a "proximity" system where you get as close to 0 as possible wouldn't be good for competition, I was told, so it only makes sense that this isn't added either.)
Otherwise, everything for Shuffle is fine as it has been for the past year...

Here's the divisions list for Mario Party 8 (and yes, I do have it):
Mario Party 8 Divisions:

Alpine Assault
Crank to Rank
Kartastrophe
Lean, Mean Ravine

Test for the Best: Overall (max = 10,000 - really difficult to obtain: requires absolute perfection)

NOT ADDING:
Swing Kings
Settle It in Court
-> These two games can be somewhat-easily maxed although the former is a record game so it will be added (max = 20).

Also, here are the Divisions for Mario Party Advance (thought I had these up already but guess not):

WON’T BE ADDED:
Grabbit – Scores quite small
Reel Cheep – simply not competitive at all
NO SCORE TOTAL as scores vary between high scores and low scores a lot.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just to clear it up: I'm pretty much dropping my ("plethora" of) sub-center ideas (although I would REALLY like to keep them, especially Elebits and Blinx) and only sticking with THIS and a Need for Speed sub-site (if there's interest and I can pull it off; I'll probably need help on that one as there are a LOT of divisions but I can easily run this entire sub-site on my own with help from admins and whatnot for tech stuff). Otherwise, that's it on my part and I hope to hear something.
I can guarantee that over time, more games will be added to the sub-center only after making sure that it still keeps in check with the focus of my sub-site. Examples are the upcoming Mario Party for the DS and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (which I'm really stoked for), but for now, this is what I got. As you can see, I've come a long way and I think it's only fair that I'm heard. It's the final offering and I'm hoping it will please you to the point of re-considering my sub-site to go up.
The next post below will have the complete rules list that has undergone much editing and re-examination for the sake of clarity.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Here's the COMPLETE RULES LIST:
Competition Rules:
General (Applies to all games):
*In all mini-games featuring more than one player, you cannot play with a human, only with computer opponents, unless otherwise stated.
*Computer opponents must be set to the “Normal” Difficulty (or its respective variant) for your submission to count.
*Stats should be made in the mode designated for selecting individual mini-games of your choice, unless otherwise stated. You may or may not be allowed to submit stats made from other modes, depending on the game.
*ROMS are allowed to be used for any of the GBA games but you are not allowed to use save states.
Game-Specific:
Mario Party:
* Stats can be made in Mini-Game Island, Adventure Mode or at the Mini-Game House.
Mario Party 2:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Adventure or Mini-Game Mode only.
Mario Party 3:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Story or Mini-Game Mode.
Mario Party 4:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Story, Extra or Mini-Game Mode only.
Mario Party 5:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Party or Mini-Game Mode only.
* Your stat for each of the mini-game divisions in Mini-Game Decathlon is not the result of the mini-game, but the amount of points earned at the end of it.
Mario Party 6:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Party, Mic or Mini-Game Mode.
* For stats for the Decathlon Park, it must be a Full 10-event Race.
* Your stat for each of the mini-game divisions in Decathlon Park is not the result of the mini-game, but the amount of points earned at the end of it.
Mario Party 7:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in Party, or Mini-Game Mode.
* For stats for the Decathlon Castle, it must be a Full 10-event Race.
* Your stat for each of the mini-game divisions in Decathlon Castle is not the result of the mini-game, but the amount of points earned at the end of it.
Mario Party 8:
* Mini-Game stats can be made in the Party, Mini-Game or Extras Tent.
* Your stat for each of the mini-game divisions in Test for the Best is not the result of the mini-game, but the amount of points earned at the end of it.
* A screenshot is required for proof to enter a stat in the “Overall” category for Test for the Best that is over 9000 points. The ideal place to do this would be from the Fun Bazaar, selecting your best record and taking a screenshot showing all 10 games with your point totals for each one and your overall total.
Mario Party Advance:
* Mini-Game stats can be made only in Free Play Mode.
Sonic Shuffle:
* Getting a Forcejewel in a mini-game does not earn you extra rings.
* Ring records for mini-games are to be taken using the total given at the Results Screen in the Toy Box. Stats made in Story or Versus mode may be submitted, so long as you account for the additional 10 rings that is given in the Toy Box.
* Ring records for Board Clear Mini-Games can only be taken from the Toy Box in the Sonic Room.
* When competing in Time Divisions, it is the number of seconds left on the timer you complete the game with.
* When competing in 1-VS-3 Mini-Games where you are on a team, the submission will not count if you are eliminated from the game, even if computer teammates are still in.
Fuzion Frenzy:
* Mini-game stats only count if they are made in Mini-Game Frenzy mode. Stats made in Tournament mode will not count.
* If you already start a mini-game with points in your score before it even begins (on the part of a glitch), you must restart the game or your submission will be void.
Rayman Raving Rabbids:
* Stats can only be submitted if they are made in Score Mode.
* In some games, a higher time is better as it has either a count-down or a count-up clock. Take notice of this and the corresponding charts for the following games:
- Bunnies Don’t Give Gifts – Counts DOWN
- Bunnies Don’t Like Bats (Parts 1 and 2) – Counts DOWN
- Bunnies are addicted to Carrot Juice – Counts UP
- Bunnies Never Close Doors (Parts 1 and 2) – Counts UP
- Bunnies Don’t Use Toothpaste (Parts 1 and 2) – Counts UP
* Stats for the Bunny Hunts are submitted in the following categories: Normal and Survival Scores under “Scores”; Speed Runs under “Times”.
* You are not allowed to play simultaneous games with more than one person for stats.
* A screenshot is required for proof to enter a stat in the “Total Points” category.
* If stats are made in Challenges for other mini-game divisions, your submission will only count if you can provide a video for proof. Otherwise, all stats for mini-games found in Challenges should, ideally, be made in their respective categories.
* You don’t need to get on the high-score table in Score Mode for your submission to count.
* Remember that your stat in Scores division is not the up-to-1000 points you earn for Score Mode.
WarioWare Twisted:
What about Wario Ware: Touched! Because some people like to touch Wario, ya know?
I discussed that in the post. I don't have it, otherwise, it would be added. I have a divisions list but I can't really evaluate anything, per se....
Do you think you could help in that manner?
Also, I finalized all the division lists, pretty much, minus a few exceptions where (e.g, a WarioWare game - either Micro or Twisted) I haven't unlocked all the mini-games yet.
"???" indicates I haven't unlocked the m-game yet but that's not important ATM as games subject to this won't be taken care of for a bit so I still have time to determine the missing games.
I don't actually own the game (though I'd like to). I just saw all the others up and thought you forgot it. Also, is there any difference between Mirco games and Party games? Cyberscore is very strict about charts and stuff and they combined the two. Again, don't own the game, I only own Twisted.
Title: Re: PGC/MGC
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on August 24, 2007, 05:05:23 pm
I combined the two, also, but not because of Cyberscore.
edit:
Actually, for Twisted, as you can see, I'm missing a few divisions. Can you see if you've unlocked the mini-games I haven't? I've only unlocked one of the souvenir games so any others you have would help out.
edit:
Since you have Twisted, I'll move it up on the list of priorities for the order of the games I'm adding.
PRIORITY LIST - changed:
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic Shuffle
Mario Party 8
WarioWare Smooth Moves
Rayman Raving Rabbids
WarioWare Twisted
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 1
Mario Party 2
Mario Party Advance
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 5
Fuzion Frenzy
All other WarioWare games
edit:
I'm so dumb. When the time comes, I can just refer to Cyberscores' charts to determine the mini-game divisions I'm missing. Simple.
I'm pretty much set.
There is an update that needs to be posted when I have time and I come back but until then, know that I am still awaiting word from someone to give me the go ahead. The update isn't major - just some minor division edits.
Dunno. He probably cares less, really.
And here I thought that the next post in my topic would be a negative one...
And here I thought by now another post would've come up. I continue to exercise patience as I await a verdict.
As I continue to await SOME verdict, is there anything regarding coding that I could get started on. I've saved the ranking stuff that Rolken explained on my PC for reference when I can't come online. Is there anything I could get started on?
edit: More days go by and still nothing. (Sigh)
Still waiting on something from someone granting me permission to get this thing off the ground. At this point, though, I'll be happy if someone just listens to what I have to say. And no, I still haven't given up on this.
As I stated before, this wasn't an impromptu decision. I've been trying to create a site of my own for such a thing for quite some time and it didn't work as I planned. A sub-site is the next best thing and I'm sure that w/ TSC's format, it's a recipe for success in terms of format and layout.
edit:
For the record, I'll be adding Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games (it's more fitting into this sub-site as a Party game than it does if it were to go with the other games on the site), and some other games as they are released and evaluated by yours truly.
Fuzion Frenzy 2 may be revisited now that I have a 360.
One of the main reasons (I believe) this isn't moving along very well is because most party games have quite a few random variables, and many mini-games just consist of pressing a button rapidly, which can easily be measured by other games and methods. Many of these games are more designed for parties than anything else. It also seems a bit strange to compete in only a couple of the mini-games that would be applicable on any given game, due to it's being relatively inconvenient. This would discourage most potential competitors from even bothering with it. I think Sonic Olympics will likely be a game that could be measured and competed in accurately, but if that's the case, another site will likely quickly take it up.
In terms of forum board construction, it looks okay. I'll have to honestly say I don't think the main concept of the site has much of a chance of getting off the ground at this point, though...
I cant tell you how much I appreciate your post.
I cant give an update/indepth post now as I'm on the Wii [just got the I.Ch.] but expect an update/post...
OK. On the Wii for this one again... I'm posting my message bit-by-bit as my connection's not the most stable. In any case, I'll signify when I'm actually done my post.
edit1: First, it's not "inconvenient" when there are modes designed for selecting individual mini-games. Also, if you feel that MSatOG will be measured accurately, Rayman Raving Rabbids and WarioWare would fall under that [and yes, I am excluding the rest - Shuffle, SatSR and almost all M.Party's wouldn't go by what you're stating.]
Anyway, here's the meat of my post:
You brought out a good point: I think ppl are thinking that the subsite is all about minigames that require button-mashing and/or little-to-no skill. The focus is much more narrow than that but more importantly, the specific m-games I've isolated DO require skill, accuracy/precision and (much) effort to obtain/beat a good record.
Button-mashers DO NOT qualify as being competitive which is why I eliminated them somewhere down the road. Same goes for games where theres a randomness variable that determines your success at obtaining a good score.
But, just in case, last night, I performed one final close examination at all games I'm adding and their respective mini-games. What should be first noted is the amount of m-games per game that have been decided as being worthy of gaining a place on the sub-site:
-MP6: 13
-MP7: 9
-SatSR: 9 (After what A-Man said, more than 10 were scrapped)
-Shuffle: 28
-WarioWare SM: 22
-Rayman: 44
-MP8: 21
-MP1: 8
Those were the games I reexamined. I decided to remove Fuzion Frenzy due to lack of compelling competition.
Otherwise, things ARE finalized and as a reminder, all the games that'll be added (after forethought and extended consideration) are as follows:
-Mario Party 1-8, Advance
-WarioWare Series (ALL: GBA/GC/Wii/DS)
-Rayman Raving Rabbids [most competitive]
-SatSR
-Shuffle
TOTAL: 17
+ 3 Later additions:
-Mario Party DS
-MSatOG: I have high hopes for this as far as competition
-RaymanRR 2: will be quite competitive if anything like the original
If that doesnt clear things up... I dunno. What I DO know is that no other game (without a really good reason) will be removed and the div's are now truly finalized after one final look-over.
If anyone's out there (preferably a(n) mod/admin), I hope this clears up any misconceptions and that people will give this a chance - that's what I'm really asking for.
...Yeah, I'm done (but I cut off a bit about removed div's).
Title: PGC: MSOG
Post by: KnucklesSonic8 on November 11, 2007, 02:41:49 pm
It's beyond obvious that Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games WILL be added.
So, who here has the game so far? I plan on getting it once it goes down to 39.99. (Oh, btw, CDN prices at Best Buy, Future Shop and Wal-Mart are FINALLY on-par w/ US!!! No more 59.00-new releases... ftw...)
Anyway, when I get it, competition info will go up.
Until then, though, anyone care to assist?
Also, Rayman 2 FINALLY releases this week. I can't wait! Again, that will be added too, followed by Mario Party DS next week as well..
Ahem* not to hint that this should go up or anything....
But I'm not only patient, I'm very determined even for something like this.
Also, I'm contemplating the removal of SatSR.
The sub-site is meant for games that are only TRULY competitive. As such, SatSR isn't THAT competitive if competition were to start for that game.
All the other games (which I'll further elaborate on in a bit) are TRULY competitive, as hard as it is for some of you to believe... >_>
On that note, I'm also contemplating a removal of the Mario Party games... POSSIBLY. If people are so unsure of the amount/level of competition that is to be had here, Mario Party may be obscuring your viewpoint a little. I've done my best to select only the mini-games that truly have a level of competition and would require excess effort - which is what I've done with everything in case you hadn't notice, which is probably the case anyway.
Rayman Raving Rabbids (1 and 2), the WarioWare series, and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games ARE competitive - there's no doubt.. or at least there SHOULD be no doubt...
Mario Party, and Shuffle may make it in because they do display level of competition, don't get me wrong; but the level of competition isn't AS strong as it is with the other 4 games and that may be the reason why I'm not getting the go-aheads on this for whatever reason... It seems like I'm going to have to appeal to the wishes of whomever can grant approval, forsaking my own personal beliefs about the level of competition in certain games, in order for this to go up...
As for SatSR... well.. there ARE competitive games that almost match up with Rayman (such as the Carpet one), but on a general level, it's not filled with competition as the other games are.
I'm debating about M-Party and Shuffle, really. I think SatSR won't make it in unless SOMEONE displays an interest in it going up.. which I doubt considering the circumstances.
I'm really stuck in that I don't know what else to do to show that I am visibly ready, not to mention capable of executing this sub-site. I really fail to see why I've been given the cold shoulder here when the other sub-sites aren't exactly generating a lot of competitiors either. Don't quote me on that, though. But, srsly, I really don't know what else to do... I'm ready, as I have been for quite some time. I just can't see why approval won't be granted.
Oh, and before a debate ensues, MSOG really IS a party game by nature. No doubt. To see it go up on the main site wouldn't feel right, IMO, esp. since I'm trying to work on this sub-site that would encompass such a game. It would also look strange that MSOG goes up, meanwhile SatSR and Shuffle are still absent.
But I digress... I'm rambling on a bit.
Main point: Approval, please. That's all. Especially w/ MSOG's release as well as RRR2's upcoming release, it should be no doubt now that this should go up.
In need of an update...
RRR2 and MSOG divisions will be listed next time.
RRR2 is quite competitive, BTW. On par w/ MSOG but the original is probably the most competitive of all the games.
Divs lists coming after I type them up on my spare or s'thing I guess.
MSOG and RRR2 will definitely be added.
Ive decided to remove the MP series for now until further notice. Im questioning the competition of a lot of the games and if its really worth adding a (in some cases: small) # of games that are. MPDS and MP8 are the most competitive, but not b/c theyre the most recent additions. (BTW, MPDS has great minigames. One/two are the best mgs EVER in a MP!! :o)
Anyway. The TRULY FINAL LIST. That is, <<si tu t'en fiche>>. (If you care.)
WarioWare (SM, MPG, MMG, TWSTD, TCHD)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (1/2)
Mario/Sonic Olympics
=Only 8 games
Ive come a REALLY long way. Its been rough for me but Im still willing and devoted to get this going. :)
As a certain character would say (CF, ReBoot reference FTW!):
" [My function is complete.] Now, it is only a matter of time..."
And yeah, Im still doing this from my trusty Wii.
3. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
4. WarioWare Smooth Moves
5. WarioWare Twisted
6. WarioWare MegaMicroGame$/MegaPartyGame$
There's a list of other games that MAY get added down the road if interest is shown and/or if competition can be accurately evaluated as much as it has been with the above 6. Examples are the Mario Party series (has highest chance of getting added after these 6 if interest is shown), and WarioWare Touched (competition needs to be evaluated).
I leave it to you, then...
