Title: Server change
Post by: Rolken on September 24, 2006, 04:02:27 am
This is the new TSC server. Submissions and postings are on again. :o

Anyone who had FTP or email accounts before should PM me to have them reinstated.

Nice one Rolken, definitely an improvement :)

Alright, sweet!

EDIT: Does this mean no file limits on videos, now?

That might be TSC4, but I haven't tried to upload any video over the limit yet (hell, I keep getting an error when I try to submit a video).

Totally. To quote from the chatroom:

<Zephyr> Also wow
<Zephyr> New Stats page only took 2.64 seconds to load :O
<RPG> yeah :O
<Zephyr> As opposed to, like, 26.4 seconds or more on the old server. >_>
<Zephyr> Or 264 seconds. <_<
<RPG> <_<
<RPG> XD

So...um...:thumbsuporsomething: >_>

Yeah, it took too long when viewing all stats from the past week.  Now it's like 5 seconds.

it's about time i'd say, 3 seconds is much more bearable than 20, nice job on the big improvement. i'm assuming alot of the glitches are gone as well?(like it listing everyone 5 times apeice on the overall ranks whenever someone submits 2 stats before it updates the first one)

Not quite.  Submission-wise, that problem should be fixed, but the stats pages that were affected aren't yet.  Maybe when someone submits something for one of them, it will fix for that division.

Groudon nailed it.

I'm working on the upload limit. The trouble with that is it's a PHP configuration setting, and every server that has a different implementation of PHP requires different methods of getting around it.

OK, the upload limit is now 10MB. Hopefully it'll propagate to all the subdirectories without me having to configure each one.

Another note - I took off the records from the profile pages, as they were slowing them way down. It'll be back later with a proper implementation.

It's also good that the Records tab is back on the profile pages.  Remove one, return another.

I can't seem to change my picture or add a new one. Everytime I try, there's an error message. I'm assuming this is kinda common since I see a lot of poster's side border have a box with a red x where their picture should be.

^I had a problem too.  Since attachments were trouble, I just got my pic put on the web.  Can't be too hard to find a place to host one pic.

I use Firefox, so I just don't see any images that a red X would appear in its place.

Well, currently, in this thread, I only see PK's, Groudon's, and Thorn's pictures - which I actually also see in other topic threads too.

That's cause this forum's source code stupidly uses blank aternate text on images (alt="" with no value between the quotes), Firefox normally has its own icon (old one from Netscape) to display broken images without alternate text.

P.S. I use an off-site avatar, but it was somehow turned off when the server was changed, I had to-add it through my profile options.

This is what happens when I try to edit my picture:

"An Error Has Occurred!
The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved. "

Same thing happens for me.  I couldn't see mine before, but now I can.

The problem seems to be with attachments in general.  I figure anybody can find free image hosting online.

Here's a weird one: Go here (http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=1129.60), where I attached the emblems for the Mario Kart topic.  The emblems don't show, right?  Click the blank boxes, and when the image expands as usual, it shows up.  That might just be my browser, but it proves that it's not jsut avatars that have the problem.
