Title: Calling all Rush Scores into question :o (Sorry, but there's good evidence)
Post by: SpinDashMaster on September 02, 2006, 01:46:05 am
A few things are bugging me, and I want to deal with them before I begin seriously SA-ing Rush:

First of all, the rules do not specify that score attacks must be done in normal mode, not easy mode. Only Time division requires this.

Secondly, I noticed (Sorry Groudon) that one of Groudon199's guides to SA-ing mentions the use of easy mode. Does this mean he has been using easy mode himself on most of the scores? Also, not to be accusing to the hard working rush players, but, have most of you been using easy mode for SA-ing also?

One last thing, if easy mode is not allowed for SA-ing, could someone add it to the rules, so that no one else gets the bright idea?

I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks.

None of mine are on Easy mode.

Wtf difference does Easy mode make anyway? :O All I know is that bosses take less hits. Honestly I've never used it for anything lol.

Specifically, Time Bonus does not start ebbing away as soon as it does on Normal mode.

EDIT: Also, wtf...

the Dead Line 1 Blaze score needs to gtfo.

EDIT 2:

Correction: There is no difference between difficulty on non-boss levels in Rush, whatsoever.

The last time there was a scandal this big, this one guy was like "so I found this new glitch where if you switch to fly and hold b, your Team Blast meter goes up".

But I don't think you need to bring all scores into question. Just those that obviously used  Easy mode to slow the deduction of speed points. With Rush, I'd imagine that it would be easier to figure out which scores are fake because the scores follow a definite pattern (so many points are awarded for rings, trick, time, and speed). Someone should look into this, and I nominate not me because my experience with Rush is minimal.

Also shame on you groudon.

I've written zero guides on SAing this game.  That rewards you with an instant PHAIL! *leaves topic*

edit: *waits for someone to point out one specific score*

Had that been asked almost immediately after they were resubmitted, I'd have an answer (maybe).  I seriously cannot remember why I resubmitted them.  If I need to, I'll replay each level and get a different score.

...so why's easy mode disallowed anyway?

All of Groudon's non-boss scores were reallowed because I had discovered (after this topic) that non-boss levels have no dependency on difficulty. In other words, the choice between easy and normal has no bearing on the level's fundamentals, time bonus caps, or anything else that would be otherwise advantageous in a non-boss level.

Uhh... then why is there easy anyways?

I guess "non-boss" wasn't clear enough.

Boss difficulties -do- change. Non-boss difficulties don't.

In fact, in SRA wasn't it changed to "Boss Difficulty"? Or am I just tired

Yeah SRA had changed it into "Boss Difficulty"

If anything, i have never used easy mode for SAing. If anything i choose to die in the level over and over again.

I never use Easy mode for much of ANYTHING.  I haven't found many games where you unlock stuff on Easy that you don't on Hard, and since my absurd perfectionism requires that I play on Hard eventually anyways, I just typically skip Easy altogether.  Typically it's never enough of a difference that I get frustrated by it.  I just get creative at times....

it's like going straight to the 150cc races in Mario Kart, right?

I don't see how that has any relevance to the discussion, which was concluded, and thus necromancy is a sin (yeah I know it was only 9 days, but was still unnecessary)
