Time Attacked (http://jamiebailey.sepwich.com/sta.zip)
There's a few things I think they did better than the Advance games (grinding, anyone?). I'm all about adding it to the rankings, if y'all're up for it.
-
crap, It's a winzip file. My free trial period has long since expired. I'm too lazy to bother paying the bill. Is there a non-winzip way to play this? I liked the advance games,or advance 2 anyways, and rolkien says they improved upon it, so I want to play it.

Click "Use Evaluation Version".
-
Use WinRAR to unzip it.
And I'm leaning toward "no" for adding it to the ranks solely because it's not an official release. How about put up your best stats in this topic, so that there's something keeping track, but it doesn't have the same level of "legitimacy" as the corporate releases.

I agree with you on this. TSC could be official games only, but maybe some people don't agree though... Posting times in a topic would be ok.
-
I agree, this is a WONDERFUL fan game. I'd participate if it was added. Let's add it!

*Votes that we add Sonic: Time Attacked to Sonic Center.*
That's all I have to say. :D
-
Oh. My. Poop.
That game is awesome. We must keep a record of the best times.
-
Is the game called Ultimate Flash Sonic (http://flashplayer.com/games/ultimateflashsonic.html)? If so, I've played it, and it's pretty good other than the massive slowdown.
-
...no, it's called Time Attacked.
again: "That Flash thing got nothin on this."

oh, yeah...... and it's most likely true, ultimate flash is horribly slow with the controls having a huge delayed reaction. Plus, It's more or less just a remake of sonic advance 2 with worse graphics, slower controls, different bosses, and short levels.
Edit: I unzipped the file, and it let me see the first screen :D But I can't get past the part where it asks me whether I want to play widescreen or fullscreen.....Is it my computer? I click on fullscreen, and nothing happens. The same with widescreen. ne1 know how to fix my problem?
Edit: Problem fixed. Man, this game has kickass music! I didn't play it yet, though, because I accidently set joystick as the default control.
-
I'm pretty sure the music is all recycled, though largely not from Sonic games.
-
Slide city is definetly twinkle park. Man, This game is awesome. The scenes look really weird, though. And how do you save your game? I also don't know how to spin dash. It's still really fun, though. Oh, and when you first start off, you can only play time attack, right?
-
Spin dash = Ctrl
There is only one game mode, and every run gives you the opportunity to save your stats if you beat the existing records.
Right now I have one MAX Link (Crystal Caverns 2) and 46 of the 90 Sonic Coins.
-
Ok, I managed the spindash :) You can actually change which buttons control what functions. Right now, Jump is space bar and shift is spin dash. Oh, and I can't figure out how to beat slide city act 1. I don't know what you're supposed to do after you spin dash to break the section of wall. That brings you into a room with a grind rail you can't grind, and then a section of wall you can break away. After that it's a dead end. Can ne1 help?
-
Shift will also grind rails, then.

Oh, yeah, I found that out a few minutes after I posted, but my computer got killed by pop-ups, even though I have avant browser
Edit:  the first boss made me laugh. Using tails as a wrecking ball? Why didn't Dr. Robotnik think of that genius idea before? Of course, you can tell what will happen with the plot. You'll know when you beat Zone 1. Oh, and this game most likely takes place sometime between sonic adventure and sa2b, right? And one last thing: The characters in the background are hilarious sometimes. Did you see the Mario who had a giant beer? Or the tails angel you could stand on? And there are many more. The only thing this game is missing is a way too play other people online....that would be sweet. Oh, and an idea for Roken: maybe a forum for Sonic fan stuff? Like pics, games, etc.
-
Personally, I like sonic Robo Blast 2. But I need a controller to play it cause its hard to control lol.

Race me, and prepare to get Pwned!!!
-
No! I shall be victorious, though I've never played the game before! Are you known as turbos there, as well?
Edit: Never mind, my windows 95 is to primitive to run the program. Plus, I have no free space left on my hard drive. it looked pretty good, though.

(sorry for posting this late but) Sonic Mega-Mix is the best unofficial sonic game EVER MADE- 100x better than this one. There was a time when I preferred Mega-Mix to ANY real sonic game; it is that good!
It is basically an awesome retro 2D Sonic game, but with elements from all Sonic games. It is AWESOME!!
You can get the game on the Sonic Retro website, and play it on a Sega-CD emulator (I would use Gens).
If you have not already played it, I strongly recommend it!!

Either you cannot see the GIANT RED TEXT or... I don't know what to say.
Also, This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHNOa5VSp_U) is the best Fangame ever.
-
Got Time Attacked.
It's really fun, but there are a few bugs in it.
Also, I didn't like how the first level was basically a vertical climb. I spent 5 minutes on that level, and about 2 on all the other ones (except Lightspeed Carnival 3)! XD

Ehhh...Megamix has some pretty terrible level design. The pacing in "Green Hill" is all over the place, and "Marble Garden" is a convoluted mess. Those two levels pretty much sum up the design flaws: inconsistent pacing and random nonsensical design.

Marble Garden? You realise it's a Sonic 1 hack right?
-
I think you will all find that the greatest hack is neither of these games and is currently being showcased over here: http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=5244.0

Oh right. "Marble Zone." Whatever.

Tweaker had better not be watching this topic right now. He would feel burnt if you were to bash Megamix.
